Salthem has dropped a nice hint about the most unexpectedly exciting feature of the new expansion: hairstyles!Yep apparently it's not just hair: there will definitely be new hairstyles and colors, but there may also be new jewelry (earrings and noserings, I'd assume), and maybe even tattoos to choose from. And the most interesting piece of news is that the hair changing won't take place outside of the game, in a menu or some such, but at ingame barbershops.
Strange. Will there be a barbershop inbetween the swords and wands shops in Orgrimmar? Or maybe new hairstyles will be confined to the new expansion, and the barbershops will appear in Dalaran only. Either way, Salthem says the design is still being planned, so we're a long way off until getting concrete information on this. Hopefully, Blizzard has gotten clued in to how excited players are about more customization option, and we'll all get something cool when the expansion eventually hits.
Thanks, Kevin!

It's good to know they're working hard on making your characters visually customzeable... sorta... rather than making them able to be useful with varied skill builds.
I'd much rather see armor customizations and such, so you could stay geared and look different. Surely it wouldn't be too impossible to be able to have 10 different shades of the armor sets, or be able to color your dungeon blues or mix/match purple gear into a cohesive set of armor or something.
Otherwise, who's going to see your badass tatoo? People idling at the bank or AH? Same goes for hairstyles... mine's under a helm the entire time, I don't even know what my own hair looks like anymore.

At least they're not making this a profession, like Star Wars Galaxies. Ugh.

Who wouldn't want a Tauren with a full-body checkerboard pattern dyed in his fur?

Will the tattoo parlors charge extra for the hepatitis and tetanus shots? Or will that be a learnable first aid skill?

@Dave,
Whats to say they aren't doing both at once? There is more then one employee at Blizzard, including some that actually deal with balance. Having someone working on customizable hairstyles (one of the most demanded features since the games release) doesn't affect how fast Warlocks get nerfed.

More than anything I’d like to see a ramp up in the models polygon count and quality, along with the looks of the armor and weapons. Compared to games as old or older than WoW (Lineage 2) the graphics are quite poor.

Oh yeah, I can see it now. Lots of emo toons running around with tribal tats and barbed wired on their arms. All the female night and blood elves will be sporting tramp stamps. Orcs with nautical stars! Tauren with ranch brands! Everyone will have a little tattoo tear next to an eye. Humans with variations of "Kid Rock" running around with a half sleeve tat, a white t-shirt and a mullet, while dual-wielding Mug o hurt and Hurley's Tanakard.
My troll will die from laughter.
I'm sure the tat artists will be named Kat Vond or Amie Jaymes or something like that.

in fact I WANT customization much more than skills or builds (there already a lot of choice here)
I hope blizzard will sometime take time to add more visual customisation and not only raid/instance loot l33t stuff.
more hair choices is nice and _I_ wanted that. thanks blizzard.
(I wanted also a new troll instance :) )
