TGIF folks -- that means it's time for another installment of Ask WoW Insider. Last week we looked at the etiquette surrounding leaving an instance early as well as a bit of a trip down memory lane to highlight the best of Ask WoW Insider to date. This week we'll be speculating about a lore issue: who is the most badass character of all in Warcraft history? Killah writes: Because of the recent activity regarding the new expansion set Wrath of the Lich King, it has come to my interest to find out about more about the lore in Warcraft. I was reading about the Lich King, his rise and fall, on WoWwiki. It suddenly appeared to me that the Lich King indeed possessed great powers, but yet there must've been someone stronger than him. My question to you guys is: What character is the strongest (physically, magically, powerful, fearful) in Warcraft history? This character might be deceased now, but still might the strong throughout history.Who's your pick for the most badass Warcraft figure of all time (excepting Leeroy for simplicity's sake)? Is it Illidan, or Neltharion, or that nasty murloc that pwned your ass in the Wetlands last week? Who's your top of the tops?
WTB your questions! Send us your WoW-related inquiries to ask AT wowinsider DOT com.

Think you guys did a very similar post yesterday or the day before claiming that it was probably Elune, but may be Sargeras.

Well, there are various characters that play a very large part. As for who the most directly powerful entity is, it would be the titans that created Azeroth and the dragons. There's just not really anything that comes even remotely close to their insane power.
After that is the old gods (that the titans defeated), the dragons (with Neltharion/Deathwing probably being the strongest there) and various other gods/spirits.
As for making things what they are today, according to lore, Rhonin has played quite a significant part in the outcome of various battles, Thrall is the major player in the Orcs' rise to power, and Arthas in the making of the Scourge and Forsaken, plus the downfall of old Lordaeron. Illidan, Malfurion and Tyrande have all played important roles in the outcome of the War of the Ancients and the second invasion of the Burning Legion, so I guess they're not to forget either.
My personal vote for the most influential though, would be Medivh.

on the whole, i really give it to the un-introduced leader or leader of the nathraziem, namely because they were the ones that curropted sargeras in the first place. while some were incredibaly strong (tichondrias and mal'ganis) they were only leutenits, and why they werent actually physically stronger then sargeras, they did outwit him and leash a little control over him, these guys are like the shadow council times a billion
(sorry for any bad spelling)

Well Elune shouldn't count because she's a goddess, that's just plain unfair. However, being a deity her powers on Azeroth are limited (reason being why she can't stop wars with a snap of her fingers and whatnot). So, a defeatable character in WarCraft history.... I'd have to say Aman'thule, Sargeras's older brother and leader of the Titans.

Grom Hellscream.
He freed the orcs, and anyone who has seen that scene (youtube it now) and doesn't shed a tear is an ally scum.

I think the most powerful element in current WoW lore would come down to a tie between Medivh and Kil'Jaeden (sp?)
When you read the lore, you get the impression that everything that's happened lately COULD be part of a long, elaborate plot by Kil'Jaeden to eliminate his rivals and humble the Burning Legion, thus placing them absolutely under his power. If this hypothesis is true, then he's a grand master player almost without equal in the lore.
I'm sure Blizzard will fumble the ball and put him in the lineup as just another idiot boss to be zerged into oblivion by overpowered lootwhores eventually. But the lore does provide the possibility that he's the extremely subtle puppetmaster of all warcraft lore to date. Everything has worked out in his favor so far.

@11 Well not to disapoint you entirely but we'll be fighting a "weak" Kil'jaden in the Sunwell 25 man they'll be adding eventually. The reactivated the powers of the Sunwell and the demons are using it to try to summon Kil'jaden to Azeroth but when the adventurers (us) burst in on the scene its only partially done so we fight a half summoned Kil'jaden it seems.

Most Powerful.....Ehhh Sargeras or whoever defeated Sargeras.
Most Influental........Depends what your talking about. Illidan is a major one. Destroying Tichondrius, making the Well of Eternity, rising the Naga from the sea,Helped save the Blood elves, Almost killed the Lich King, recreated the Fel orcs and thats all I can really think about.
Medivh is also a major one. While possessed summoned orcs to Azeroth,Gathered all the races toegether in order to save the world from Archimonde....really depends. I'd say Medivh is on a hire scale so probably Medivh.

It should be noted that although the Titans did indeed defeat the Old Gods, it took the combined might of the Titans. Suggesting to me that one-on-one, an Old God at full strength (READ: NOT Cthun) is possibly one of maybe even THE most powerful beings in the universe.
Sargeras is certainly in the top 3 based on his Titan history combined with his vast rage.
Kil'jaeden would be fairly high up, but perhaps even higher than him would be the Lich King (Until we kill him that is) due to his rapidly increasing powers.
