I don't recall this being difficult, and I did it; however, I was funding the alt with gold from my main, so maybe I bought some good stuff at the AH that made it easier than if I didn't have tons of gold (and tons of bag space)

I noticed this on my blood elf warlock as well. It just struck me as really poor quest design at the time since the problem is two-fold:
1) The mobs are level 12 and 13, including a few that hit fairly hard in melee. This isn't usually a problem, especially for warlocks, except that
2) The mobs are undead, which means that they cannot be feared.

Since the only demon you have at the time is the imp, you basically need to tank the heavy hitting melee mobs yourself which just makes the quest incredibly annoying, especially if you happen to get adds.

I had no problems with it what so ever...
Its actually easier than the lock quest that some of the other races have. Plus those ghosts are only a little higher level then you are when you do the VW quest anyways.

I can only speak for the Alliance side warlock, and yeah it wasn't too difficult. I guess it makes up for the fact that the Druid bear form quest for Tauren is much easier compared to the Night Elves. I did that quest solo on my Tauren easily, but it's about impossible to solo as an Elf...at least to me anyway.

See, it might be hard to get a VW, but I found it very hard to get my succubus. Had to walk right through Duskwallow Marsh, which at level 20 is not fun.

The problem you're describing really isn't related to the Warlock quest, just Ghostlands. Over here we affectionately refer to GL as "the noob zone that is NOT for noobs". It's absolutely perfect for an experienced player who wants to get to the interesting level ranges quickly, with decent gear, though with higher risk. Take a look at the quest target locations: it's an almost flawless quest grind. A player who's done GL before can knock out 11-20 in one, perhaps two sittings. There's just one catch: you screw up, you die. Outside of towns there aren't many "safe spots" in GL. You've got wandering elites, fearbombs, a huge variety of mob abilities, mobs are close together and, yes, the respawn rate is more like Hellfire Peninsula than Barrens. Higher risk, higher reward. What other zone gives you blues before 20 without having to set foot in an instance?

I did the BE VW quest twice and the Alliance version a few times as well. I agree that the BE version is significantly more difficult but not all that bad from a more expierenced playes point of view. Mostly you need to be very carefull and methodical in the gostland area where the VW is summoned. Also, the second time I waited untill I was lvl 11 which made it a bit easier.

A new to WoW player would probably find it daunting, IMO. But I don't think it needs to be nerfed.

I didn't find that quest hard at all. I guess I was about 11 or twelve when I started the quest (I wanted to finish all the quests in the starting zone before going into Ghostlands) or if I was ten I must have gone in right after somebody else was in the village and they unknowingly cleared the way for me. I might have to make warlock number 3 (and Belf warlock number 2) in to see if it's as easy as I thought.

I found the quest for human's to get it to be much harder. It could be because it was my first warlock.

That quest was cake. Thing I've noticed about the warlock quests in general - and this is true for human warlocks too, is they give you the quests about 2 levels before you can really solo it.

I solo'd the quest at level 10. It sucked, but by far wasn't the hardest quest. Succubus? Yes. Getting from UC to Wetlands? Running through Arathi Highlands at level 20 is NOT the easiest task. There was no way I would have been able to solo that quest (unless, you know, I had been smart and realized the succubus quest from Org was MUCH easier, but whatever).

Personally I think this is just a nice balance to how the Alliance Succubus quest involves crossing the ocean, crossing Ashenvale and The Barrens/Dustwallow and The Barrens, then returning to one of the northmost points in Ashenvale, then back to The Barrens.

I did this quest recently on my newest alt. I think it is similar to a lot of class quests in that you get it at level 10, and it is a real challenge. If you aren't up to the task, knock down a couple more levels with your imp and go back when you have a little more 'oomph'.

This is similar in ways to the level 50 class quests. Finding/killing Wavethreshers at level 50 can be tough considering they seem to be surrounded by level 53+ murlocs and other mobs. However, it can be done and offers a decent challenge to the experienced player. If you aren't up for the challenge, come back when it's a bit easier to manage.

Just like to point out to Chris that not all the 50 class quests are the same (aside from leading to ST of course). For example the druid one, aside from somewhat obscene drop rates on stingers, has decent enough level on the mobs.

Get over the fact that particular groups develop particular terminology for their interests. For example, in the field of earthwork, the term "daylight" refers to meeting up with existing topography has zero relation to the sun, day, or light.

Arguments like this just make you look like an asshat.

I also didn't find this quest to be very hard. Any experienced (smart) player can knock this out fairly easily. I don't mean that in a condescending way, just that it is not as hard as the author suggests.

I think I was level 11 when I did that on my BE warlock, and I had my friend's level 11 mage along to help. Between the two of us it wasn't that hard. I don't really know what it would be like solo, but it didn't strike me as unreasonable. *shrug*
