Changeable hairstyles at last! Long live new dances!
It does seem rather incongruous that in a game called about warcraft, changeable hairstyles and new dances would be a big deal, but it's true! This is something we've been wanting for a long time, but I never for the life of me imagined it would be an expansion feature. I always thought it would be like voice chat and guild banks, added in with some patch or another just like so many other things.
It begs some frightening questions: Are we going to have special hairstyles and dances only available to those who have bought the expansion? Will we have to quest for that really epic hairdo, or spend hours and hours grinding for the reputation to access that one faction haircut we want? After all, we do it for special mounts whose only claim to fame is looking cool, why not for hairdos too?
I suspect there won't be such thing as an epic hairdo quest, nor rep-grind barber shops, but really any which way Blizzard manages it will be fine with me. I do hope there will be new skin colors, faces and other characteristics be available too, though one could argue that should those be set in stone. Also, one would wonder if it's just new hair and dances which they have in store for us, or are there going to be a whole slew of new social features? Dare we hope for a proper /hug animation?

Chances are, once the expansion is done and out, everyone will have access to these subtle features... regardless if you bought the expansion or not.
People who failed to buy the expansion still have access to those TBC enchants, gems, etc.

I hope we get a whole lot more emotes. I like using them to talk to alliance. Depending on my mood, i'll either help them with quests or slaughter them.

@Daniel
Heh, while that is pretty funny, I understand completely what you mean. Customization is a blessing to have, so why not go the distance. How about custom/changeable tattoos, while we're at it?

I'd love to get the whole range of skin colors, hair styles, and faces.
Why faces?

Bah. In the distant future, there will be only one kind of dance: the robot.
And the robo-boogie.
Two kinds...of dances.

I know that a lot of people do, but I don't think I do want to change how my character looks. My main, with more playtime than I want to think about, just looks the way he does for better or worse. If I changed the hairstyle or face (or sex!) he wouldn't be the character I've been playing for the best part of three years.

Just wondering, will they remove the blood elf female joke then?

I kinda agree with CauthonDM... we've grown used to how our toons look so radical changes can't be good. Too bad if we made poor judgement calls on creation, those guys were born with those faces. But hair grows, and so does beards and mustache for some of us. And if we can cast spells, we can surely dye or cut our hair. I know I've been waiting forever to change my hairstyle and hair color... Especially since almost no helms look good enough for me! ;p

I can see it now...the epic quest to gain access to the "celebrity" hairstylist of the game. Otherwise, it's Haircuttery for joo.

I've very specifically chosen the look of all my characters so that it would be appealing to me. I just can't play an "ugly" character for hours on end. ROFL
But I do think that adding in moire customization options is a great direction for the future. Hopefully more things like this will come in the future, like tattoos or subtle battle scars and things which could make characters even more unique.
I would like to see more short hairstyles for male Blood Elves. Also, the addition of slightly more esoteric hair colors for ALL races. (I have a reason the other day that I really wanted to make a character with green hair, but no dice.)
If anything involves questing, I think the new dances are most likely to. Maybe it could serve as a way to explore the lore of Northrend that you have to go to certain places and do quests there before you can learn the local dance style. That could be really fun.

I too want a Hairstyling profession.
[Enormous Beehive] : +4 Stam, increase Defense Rating by 12
Otherwise, I don't really need it. I like the way my toons look.

Ooooo, a new profession. Hairstylist. Can't wait to see how they make you level that one.
Sorry, but I feel people pay way to much attention and angst over how your hair/face/gear/etc. looks. Who cares, it's the stats that matter.

On one of the promo videos it was displayed as "New hairstyles for your hero" which lead me to beleive that only the deathknight would get new hairstyles, which kind of makes sense, yet would probably dissapoint a lot of people. That or it could just be a flub as "we're all heroes!"....
