The WoW Insider staff were standing in the lobby of the Anaheim Convention Center, and saw Paul Della Bitta, Senior CM walking up to the Press Badge pickup booths: On his very back is the confirmation we've all been waiting for, and two hours before the official announcement! Yes indeed, in the very near future we will be heading to Northrend, playing what they term in the schedule of events as "World of Warcraft Expansion II," also known as Wrath of the Lich King.
You heard it here first-- our hunches were right. Now keep an eye out for our continuing coverage. We are hoping to have up to the minute blogging of the Opening Ceremony, but it looks as if the juicy stuff is coming even before 11 am. The revised schedule of events I was handed has a concept sketch Tuskarr hunter in the lower right hand corner. Does this mean new playable races? We will let you know as soon as we have more info to bring you!

Fix Paladin Retribution Tree instead of creating a new Death Knight Hero Class.

Blizz will run out of super villains very soon... If we kill Arthas, what will come next? Sargeras?

Maybe it's an elaborate plan to make us THINK it's WotLK!

Maybe they're throwing us off, like the "Blue Harvest" shirts and stuff the crew of "Return of the Jedi" wore during filming, so people wouldn't notice what they were filming. :P

Scoop? I think not. IGN, MMO Champion are ahead of you. I'm off to find news elsewhere.

As others have said, companies have used "blinds" before.
Until I have the CD in hand I won't believe they won't change their minds.
Besides, does it really matter. New content is good no matter what it is.
It would be nice if they would fix many of the problems already in game before they crank out more material, but they have to keep cranking it out or people will get bored and go elsewhere. Wait, some already are.

Old news... this was on the front page of Digg yesterday, and the FAQ has been in the WoW Mage forum for over 24 hours.
You guys spent $100/ticket to get the "scoop" on the new WoW expansion a day later than the rest of the world. Enjoy your Murloc outfit.

Well, I figured as much. Anytime anything sounds halfway legit, and instantly gains 90% vitriol from the fanbase, it's bound to be true.

i think Blizz needs to worry more on what they have now and in stead of a new freaking race or even a expansion.

Actually, I checked your site 15 minutes ago and saw nothing. Then went to mmo-champion.com and read about it there. Then went to ign.com and read about it there. Then I went to Shacknews.com and read about it there. And now you guys have the story.
Sorry, but that ain't first. Keep on tryin'!

You haters are slow, you must've missed the 50 posts this past week on rumored Wrath of the Lich King, including that FAQ on a mage forum that Chilbain mentioned. But everyone else was just trying to state rumor as fact. What we have here is possible definite confirmation of the rumor.

@10 I have no idea why everyone is clamoring for updated legacy content. We've already played it all to death, why on earth would we want to do it again? I can agree with more 20-60 zones for rolling new characters, but imo upping the experience rate from 20-60 would have much the same effect.

I think it would be pretty cool to go through a quest chain where ur pallys "falls" and becomes a deathknight.

We'll definitely ENCOUNTER Tuskarr in the expansion (as well as Magnataur, Arachnathid, Nerubians, and many others) but I doubt they'll be a playable race. There's pretty much ZERO backstory for them.
I still don't think they'll add new races in this one. New classes/hero classes? God I hope so.

Ouch, there's some Wow Insider hate flying around. All I can say is, is this the end? Is Wow's judgment day approaching? Why are they choosing this as the second expansion? After Arthas is killed, if they try to pull out the Emerald Dream or Maelstrom ideas it won't seem as fulfilling. It just seems like this should be saved for dessert instead of 2nd course. It's like they're shortening Wow's lifespan a little.
On the other hand, this could mean another Warcraft RTS game to add new content. I'll hold out hope.

And for the record, http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/03/picture-proof-wrath-of-the-lich-king-is-new-wow-expansion/ has a little more info, from a card at BlizzCon or something.

I, for one, think it is to early for another race or level cap. I think a new class would be more fitting with a new race or level cap in the 3rd X-pack.
Heres to "Into the Malestrom" /Cheers

lol, watch it be a World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King trading card deck. I would laugh heartily at that one.
Thanks again for the info to all the guys and gals at WoWinsider. Don't let these numbskulls bother ya.
