I remember fondly the first time my guild managed to take out Ragnaros in Molten Core. It had taken a lot of planning to make a serious attempt at it, and when everything finally came together just right it was a huge thrill. Or the first time we took out Nefarian in Blackwing Lair or Princess Huhurahn in Ahn'Qiraj or... any of a dozen other boss first kills. It may have taken countless frustrating wipes to learn the perfect strategy, but when things finally come together, it's a great feeling. But does anyone go out and visit Ragnaros (or any of the other big boss mobs in Azeroth) anymore, when the loot's no longer compelling? I've got to say -- the people who started playing since the Burning Crusade was released are missing out on some incredibly fun boss fights. But I'm glad to see that there are at least some players out there who are tackling old world content for the entertainment value. Se7en Samurai points out that the guild Elements on Alleria is running an open Naxxramas raid this weekend. (If only guilds on my realm did things like that!)
So what's your take on it? Is old world content worth going through for entertainment value, or is it all just a waste of time?

On Arathor (EU) we have a kind of organised PuG thing going, where each week a raid is organised to one of the pre-BC raids. I finally got to see and clear most of Naxx, something which pre-BC i never thought i'd do. some of it is still challenging, and the bossfights are still just as epic. BWL, also, is really fun at level 70.
The group site is www.naxx.co.uk.

I would really like to see Heroic Modes for pre-BC raids, bring them up to par to 25 man level 70 content, and Blizz will have a ton of new content on their hands to keep people interested.

On The Maelstrom - EU, we had invites to the top people in the server to take on Naxx just for the fun. Was good as people from the best guilds got to experience how others did things, and also there are now common PuG's to ZG, ONY and I have seen a few guilds who do MC still

In the "Ask WoW Insider: What pre-BC content did you miss?" blog I said that I missed most everything after MC and I would like to see, in an expansion, a compelling reason to run the old instances. A requirement for some new content or whatever. Even BWL, AQ40 or Naxx with smaller groups but a new reason to run them.
I truely believe that Blizz needs to, somehow, keep the "old" instances alive. Otherwise, new players will just see the grind from level 1 to 70 or whatever as just that. A grind. Unless they can find a guild that wants to "experience" all the content. Possibly a reason for people to not skip them as they level alts.
I'm afraid that the draw to get to max level is too great for enough people to want to form 40 man raids to run those instances. And, yes, maybe I'm being selfish by wanting to see those instances by forceing guilds to run them but there doesn't seem to be any guilds that want to see all the content.

I've looked furiously for a level 60 only guild which I could level up an alt and tackle old world content the way it was designed. But there doesn't seem to be many like-minded people and with realm transfers closed it seems pretty impossible now. I hope one day they release servers that don't contain any of the expansion content.

Once in awhile there is PUGs starting up Alliance side on Eredar. And once or twice my guild has gone down to see Ony and MC just for the novelty.

My guild (Secret Service on Blackwing Lair (US)) recently ran ZG for fun (we're a 60+ guild (excluding RL friends/alts) and currently are working on our third Kara team), I wasn't home at the time, but from what I heard it was fun.
Also, I didn't get my epic mount until 70, seeing as I'm a warlock and I have to do DM...quite a fun instance (at least two manning it with a lock and a mage (I really do mean two manning it, we had to take down 3 bosses &c.)) that most players will miss out on, which is quite sad.

We've started running weekly Ony raids just for something to do for folks who havent seen it. Let's face it, after you get good gear, the heroic keys, etc etc etc... it's nice just go see something different once in awhile even if there's no loot driven reason. I wasn't 60 by TBC release, so I've only seen part of MC, ZG and... that's it. I'll get in on the Ony raids, we're going to do BWL this weekend and since Element is on my server I need to check out the Naxx run. Sounds like fun.

I'd like to see the 55+ instances Heroiced out. For pure ambiance nothing beats stratholm.

The secret of killing WoW? Raise the level cap one more time without adding mid-level content. Warhammer is looking better everyday.

On Blackwater Raiders (RP-US) a forum has been set up recently to form PUGs for pre-TBC raids. Since the members of the guild I am in are mostly casual, we never have or probably never will have enough man-power to run 20 man, let alone 40 man, raids. Higher level members of the guild are now frantically going around getting attuned for all the various dungeons, and are having a great time doing it.
Old world content is not dead, I just think you have to look hard enough.

On Dark-Iron US Horde side we run weekly AQ40 and BWL always get 40 people and complete them in around 2-3 hours each. We run on Fridays and Saturdays since almost all guilds on the server don't raid on those days. Items like Ring of the Fallen God and Nel`s Tear are still very viable items for end game raiding which keep the people coming.

Most of our guild is still pre-Outlands, and only one or two ever ran the Azeroth raids. I'm hoping to find some other non-power gamers that are still interested in the old content for those of us more interested in enjoying the game, rather than powering through it. HMS Dawntreader on Silvermoon-A. We're lowbie friendly, if ya wanna re-roll and join us as some of us hit BRD for the first time :)

This is actually kind of funny. While I write this there is a guy in the LFG saying "LFM for AQ20" and another guy going "LFM tank and healer for ZG". This isn't common but it coincides well with your article. Maybe you gave them the idea.

Run Old World Content Anymore??
ABSOLUTELY!!
Last weekend our guild had a Molten Core Fun Run. We had some 70's that weren't attuned so it was great to go through that attunement run again. Ahhh the memories. Today we're doing a ZG Fun Run!!
Running old world breaks up the monotonous rep grinds and attunements that level 70's have to do.
Yea, making heroic modes would be great but Molten Core and especially Naxx can break even the best toons out into a sweat.
LONG LIVE OLD WORLD CONTENT!!

My guild likes to do runs while we're drunk. We've done ZG, Only and about half of Molten Core drunk. I'd really like to finish BWL becuase we never killed Nefarian pre-BC so it would be nice to finally do it.

Four manning MC is not the easiest thing to do. Tried it with a prot warrior, shammy, lock, and resto druid. Hehe, couldnt get much past the fire elementals.
