We actually
heard from Upper Deck last month that there would be new loot cards coming in the "Fires of Outland" booster release from the WoW collectible card game, but now PHD Games has announced exactly what they'll be. Strangely enough, PHD is a distributor, and there's no word on
Upper Deck's site about this, so this may actually be an unapproved leak-- wonder if PHD might face consequences for apparently telling us all of this early.
At any rate, here's the random cards that will be showing up in Fires of Outland:
- Goblin Gumbo, which will make you "burp outlandish gas"
- A Fishing Chair, for relaxing while angling
- And the best one: A Spectral Tiger mount (!). MMO Champion has actual pics, which you can see above. Pretty!
Also, all the loot cards will now be foil cards (
which is a first for the WoW TCG), and they'll have a different design as well. Fires of Outland, says PHD, is coming in late August.
Update: Commenter boulee points out there were foil cards in the Onyxia raid deck. Thanks!

The Spectral Tiger looks very glitchy with its graphics. I hope they fix that look before its release. Maybe a bit more like the Ghost Gryphons in EPL, or any mount a Shadowpriest rides.
And I'd like to know more about this chair. Actual deployable furniture? What would it do?
And surely the Goblin Burp Gumbo is infinite use.

This will not be the first foil cards inthe WoW TCG.
The enixia (sp?) raid decks that came out with the first set had a pack of 10 random loot cards in each raid deck. These loot cards were all foil.

I'm pretty annoyed- I was under the impression that items gained from buying cards wouldn't give actual in-game benefits, like the picnic umbrella. But now there's a mount that increases move speed? wtf?

not excited by how throwing money at a stupid TCG nets you a load of nice loot which if generally available would make the game more enjoyable. To me WoW is starting to come apart at the seams. This new heavy emphasize on esports and pvp in predefined groups, encouraging to spend money on a TCG for ingame items...

I still haven't opened the loot pack from my Onyxia raid deck >.>
I wanted to wait till my friends beat it.
Surprisingly, not unlike real WoW, Onyxia requires custom built decks for a lot of purposes, you can't just swing in with your netdeck (all my friends are Qualified for the English nationals).
Who knows? Maybe there'll be a turtle mount in there ;) However I'm more into the awesome epix

Why is everyone up in arms about this? The cards don't get you epic weapons or armor. They're purely cosmetic items. Remember that you need to buy the training still. Spending money on TCG is PURELY optional and will not make you better in-game. Just like the pets. Perhaps the people that are angry don't care about pets...but a mount...THAT they want. Quit QQ.

This is the closest the Horde will get to a cat mount... I might have to pic some cards up. My UD Lock would look wicked on that.

Sadly, I expect the cat to be 0% speed increase... Thus not making it very worthwhile, compared to my Black War Tiger.

tbh, the black war tiger isn't that nice - pink stones on a war tiger?!
also, hordies can get the zulian tiger from ZG still.
MY lovely UD lock will have to pass on this one - my troll warrior will look a lot better on it.
