Saturday was a memorable day for me. It was the day I hit 40 with my draenei priest, and was at last able to mount my Brown horse and ride off into the, uh, twilight. My goal had been accomplished, and it was time to shift gears. Saturday was also the day that I finished my first piece of my Spellfire set on my mage, another goal I had been working towards for more than a month. Having spent so long getting her to that point, I felt an odd sensation afterward. There was this emptiness where the drive to reach my goal had been. I thought to myself "why do I do now?"
It took me a couple hours of contemplation to realize that my next goal should be to level my warlock, since she is already so close to 70 as it is. Now with a new difficult goal in mind (being that I tend to bounce from one character to another rather than focusing on one), I felt I had a gaming purpose as I set out to adventure in Azeroth. I'm not really sure if this is just something I do or if others organize their playtime like this. I have other goals, but not nearly as pressing.
Now a while ago James wrote in about a forum post he encountered talking about a top ten list for goals in WoW. I am not sure I have a list of my own that goes to that extent. More like a top four list if anything. Do you have a top ten list of things you want to accomplish in the game?

I was pleasantly surprised to see so much old world content on some of those lists, like Atiesh and the Baron's Horse. Come to think of it, those are damn fine goals for anyone.
10. Get every key, attunement, teleport, and shortcut item in the game.
9. Get my lvl 40 mount (warlock or Gnome racial).
8. Get an Elekk.
7. Get my Dreadsteed.
6. Get my Doomguard.
5. Get a flying mount.
4. Get a more better flying mount.
3. Hit lvl 70.
2. Have every warlock spell in the game.
1. Finally kill Onyxia, and get her fancy scale cloak too.

I think the Baron's Mount is a most wanted for most old timers of the game.
I am taking a more relaxed time in the game now and still trying to fill out spots 8 and on.

Brown horse? Ugh! You should have gone to Menethil and got the Black Horse. That horse is the best looking one imo.
I don't do top 10's, but I do have a top 3:
1. Get my season 2 Arena swords for my rogue
2. Get my level 60 warrior to 70
3. Get my level 59 mage to 70

Not an ordered list.
Swift Flight Form (happening tonight!)
A rare epic ground mount (Anzu preferred, but either ZG, Baron's or Attumen's would be cool)
A complete alchemy recipe list, including discoveries
Full set of Tier 4, with matching accessories (fashion whore!)

I figure this is as good as any time to post for the first time - having recently (last friday!) got my epic mount, the list has changed - heres my top 5 - I think they are pretty modest solo-able goals
1. Horsey (5k rep to go)
2. Armor trinket from tooga in tanaris (that quest just hates all over me) for bear form awesomeness
3. Ram (not even revered with IF yet - but i love that noise it makes)
4. Flight Form
5. Epic Flight Form

Yep, I do this. I've referred to WoW as an "Achievement Simulator" before.
Of course, it's important to remember that it's the journey that's fun, not the achieving of the goal, necessarily.
I just completed one goal - get my main an Epic Mount. Now I'm working on...
1) Finish off the Emperor of BRD before any of my 3-man team passes lvl 60.
2) Complete Scholomance with The Brothers Grim (the 3-man again) before we pass lvl 61.
3) Get an Epic Flying Mount for my main(easier than it sounds if you like Auction House trading, but still a long-term).
