Nowadays you can inspect someone's items from a full 30 yards away, but back in the day, you had to be within 10 yards in order to do it. And if someone moved out of that range while you were inspecting them, then the window showing all their items would go away. I got fed up trying to catch up to people all the time when I wanted to inspect them, so as soon as I realized that an addon could help with this, I adopted it and never went back. SuperInspect has truly been the super hero addon of player inspection because not only does it preserve the inspecting window no matter how far away your target gets, it also gives you a good view of the target's graphical model, whether a player or an NPC. This feature lets you rotate or zoom in on the target model to your heart's content. Just love the look of that monster or enemy player in front of you but can't get close enough without getting attacked? Just use SuperInspect and zoom in!
There are several more features which make SuperInspect feel fleshed out and useful, such as colored borders for displayed items that indicate their quality, and total item bonuses added up from all your target's gear. It can also save the various characters you've looked at in each session so that you can look them up later. Mainly, though, SuperInspect just looks good, with a movable, scalable window, and even a pretty background behind each character that adds that certain flair that all good addons should have.

If you inspect a friendly player then click on a member of the opposite faction, you can view their model and see their honor stats

There used to be an inspect mod that would massively increase the inspect distance and also allow you to inspect cross faction players. This was way back about 18 months ago or more, and was subsequently patched out of existence, but it was truly handy when checking out your opponents in the BGs (long before the Armory existed).
That said, SuperInspect is rather nice given the current inspect restrictions.

I think it should be noted that the mod is called SuperInspect (Smurfy) now.
For anyone that wants to search for it on the various mod sites make sure you check the last updated time or that it is the Smurfy version.

What they need is a inspect mod that jumps on the net runs to the Armory and reports back what the enemy has for gear.
Not that it would be used alot in pvp, normally the few seconds you waste would get you killed. but it would be nice.

I remember doing a Dire Maul run and there was some horde (I was alliance) running around the area. We had our rogue go out and inspect their gear before we went and confronted them. It's nice to know what you're going up against before you engage.

One downfall I noticed is that this mod either doesn't calculate gems into the bonuses or set bonuses or possibly even enchants, as my stats didn't match up to what the inspect said, and I was unbuffed.

I have this mod, and I bind it to 'I' on my keyboard. I target someone and press I. I inspect people all the time, and not dealing with disapearing right click context menus is nice.

A superior version of this mod, based on the original is available...It calculates enchants and gems a lot more reliably, as well as doing nice things like adding generic spellpower to school-based damage buffs for a total representations. (i.e. if you have 700 spell damage, plus 235 fire damage, it lists 935)
The mod is called Examiner, and is available on curse.

@Sylvina: Don't forget your character sheet includes talents that don't rely on buffs, such as increased damge/healing based on intellect or spirit.
