Just a quick technical note (thanks to WorldofWar for the heads up): both of the major graphics card makers have released brand new drivers for their video cards recently. Even if you're not technically inclined, all you need to know is that the newer the version of video card drivers you have running, the better your 3D videogames (of which WoW is one) will look.If you're running Nvidia cards, you can get the latest version right here. And those with ATI cards can find their new drivers over on their site. Just download the right file for your operating system, run it (you'll probably have to restart your system, so save your work), and then marvel at... OK, it probably won't look too different, but trust me when I tell you you want to be running the newest drivers possible. In fact, if anything will fix those graphical problems people have been seeing in the last patch, this probably will.
But Mike, you say, what if I don't know what kind of card I have? For Windows XP, just right click on My Computer and go to Properties. Choose the Hardware tab, then Device Manager, and then look for the "Display Adapters" menu in the list-- that should tell you the build and brand of your video card. For Mac OS X, you don't have to worry-- Apple updates your drivers for you with Software Update. And for Linux-- well, if you're running WoW on Linux, I'll assume you already know what you're doing, because I sure don't (though you can probably find help here if you need it). And yes, you technically inclined and sharp-eyed ladies and gents, I do call my custom-built, lightning fast XP box "Refridgerator." Why? Because it's freakin' cool, man.

Ummm.. yes. It is. Whoops.
But listen, I'm a rebel. I go against the grain. If I want to add a D to my own custom built PC, I'll do it!

Ah, an 8600GT, clearly you are a man of wisdom and taste. Haha.. I bought an Asus card with that chipset recently for my new Vista PC, and I've been happy with it. Aside from some flickering scenery in the distance - which is annoying, to be sure - I'm zipping along with everything cranked up.
The June 1st 32-bit Vista drivers didn't fix this, the only bug I've noticed, but they didn't break anything either. Which is more than we can say for Blizzard patches sometimes!

about linux : nvidia releases drivers (as for windows) and in many linux distributions, there are managed by an integrated tool (update and installation, all easy and automatically).
nvidia is very smooth on linux.
Ati is not the case, sadly. AMD told two weeks ago it will change.

(NVIDIA related)
I use the beta drivers... while the release date is May 31, they are labeled as 158.45 as opposed to 158.24. Documentation is newer too, release notes on the official one are dated May 1 and beta release notes are dated May 29.

I normally don't update drivers until it fixes a problem or I am struggling with framerates.
If it gets rid of the flickering background I will jump on it. Doesn't happen a lot and it's pretty minor, but I'd love to fix it.

I am getting the same flickering on distant textures. I use an ATI Radeon Mobile 9700 in my laptop (yes, it's old).

Yeah, The update to Catalyst 7.5 did not fix my graphical issues but it did fix all my dual monitor issues.

Thanks for the update - it's not likely to fix the graphical flickering on things in the distance, that's more likely to be fixed by an actual patch for WoW.

Wow, they're even updated the 7 Series drivers for XP, which have been static since November.

I had a huge problem with ATI's 7.5, it made everything blurry, tanked my framerates... and washed out the colors. I completely removed all drivers from my system, redownloaded and tried again, same thing. I eventually downgraded to 7.4, be warned!
