Really, the question says it all. The three big WOW quest/item information clearinghouses are engaged in a fierce competition for the hearts and minds of players. Thottbot stalwarts tout their status as the simplest WOW site, with the most comments and pictures. Allakhazam is the oldest, dating back from Everquest days. And devotees of Wowhead, the new kid on the block, say theirs is smarter, cleaner, and free from the influence of gold sellers.
I used to use Thottbot, but soon grew tired of listening to inane arguments about who should get what loot. I switched to Wowhead after BC, when it became more than just a talent calculator site. I like that most of the comments are intelligent and helpful, that the site is easy to navigate, and that it's not linked to any goldselling companies. I love Wowhead, even if it does sound vaguely pornographic.
What site do you use for your WOW information? Or do you prefer to remain, as it were, spoiler-free?

Thottbot's just too cluttered (and the mess they made of disenchantment stuff put me right off it), and I never really got to grips with Allakhazam. Wowhead is by far the best, although there's some annoying glitch that makes it hard to open items in a background tab in Safari without the main page switching too.

I always try to figure everything out on my own, but sometimes the quest givers info is just not enough. In those situations, I usually hit Wowhead first, but I have used them all from time to time. I suppose WH is my favorite though.

1) never used allakhazam
2) i prefer the information on thottbot, but i prefer the layout on wowhead. mainly, i think the WoW interface tends to usually be a little darker, softer, more subdued, etc. and when you alt-tab over to thottbot, that bright white can be really glaring, especially in a dark room late at night. i love the dark gray of wowhead, and the way it's organized, but the comments and info just aren't there as much as thottbot. thottbot's info + wowhead's layout = awesome.

Wowhead for sure, the comment voting system is better than thottbot's and keeps the stupid chit-chat to a minimum so I can get the info I'm looking for. As far as ads go, I have no idea I block all of them already. Drop percentages and NPC locations seem to be more accurate too.

I dislike thottbot, it has too many things going on what with disenchanting and links that go nowhere.
Wowhead does it right with the simplicity, but sometimes doesnt have the information I need.
I use Allakhazam mostly, I have made a plugin for my search bar in Firefox so I can just tap the item in and everything I need to know is there.

When I started this game I had no idea that sites such as these existed. After a few months of playing my friend, that I had given my 10 days free card to, told me about Thott. It was a wondrous instrument that helped out in so many ways that I really began to enjoy the game. I then stumbled upon Allakhazam, which I could never spell right and always had to Google my cryptic spelling of it to find. It was pretty cool for helping with quests and such but it is way too cluttered and, more times than not, fails to load or give me any direction at all. Just before BC came out a friend of mine that I chat with on IRC told me about WoWHead. I can speak nothing but praises for this site. And the comment system is incredible too. If there is ever something lacking the comments more than make up for what I need to find. The only data mining mod I run now is for WoWhead and I haven't had to visit those other sites in a very long time.

Defiantly wowhead, the comments seem less like a forum (ThottBot) and are infinitely more useful. Also, the layout is less cluttered than the others, making it easier to use.

For the longest time, I've been a Thottbot devotee, but lately I'm turning to WoWhead more and more for their clean design and simplicity of navigation.

Thottbot (after about 5 replies) basically turns into a heated argument about which coords mod to get.

WoWHead for the loot, stats, talent calcs, etc.
Thottbot for the drop rates, as WoWHead doesn't seem to have accurate figures (prolly due to the newness of it).

Wowhead.
Thottbot just hurts my eyes looking at it. The comments are inane, and it's so hard to find a useful comment that it's a waste of time. I love wowhead's layout, the comment voting system, the colors and how organized everything is.

Allakhazam is much better if you don't know what to do for a particular quest. Someone, somewhere, has the coords for your goal, and a strat to follow.

Wowhead for me as well. It's gotten a lot better over the past few months and will continue to do so. The only gripe I've had with Wowhead is that it needs a comment moderator. I've left comments on quests giving more information, only to have my comment voted down. Then someone else posts a reworded version of my comment and gets voted up. It's childish and discourages valid contributions.
Thottbot has the aforementioned issues of a bad color scheme, plus a lot of clutter left over from enchanting in the beta. The comments are an absolute mess. Granted it's been around a long time, but that can be good AND bad. Good in that it will typically have more player feedback, bad in that some of that feedback reads like forum flamewars. Also, out of date comments can be confusing. There are a few quests/instances that have changed since their introduction, and when looking those up on Thottbot, the first comments you see are completely wrong.
I've used Allakhazam only a few times. Its design is extremely old and looks terrible. Data often looks jumbled. Add to the fact that this is the site notorious for ads that drop keyloggers and other malware on computers, and you get a site that should probably go away.

Wowhead hands down. I mean they designed their site after google. Clean and simple.
Also they could be touted as the "fastest growing" site too.
I gather data for them, i use their site exclusively. If it is down my backup is Allakhazam. I would rather go without than use Thottbot again.
