Like many guilds, my guild has a small bracket of level 19 twinks that are set up specifically to run the Battlegrounds and do nothing else. Now I've seen some of the people in guild really go overboard with their characters, pimping them out in the best blues they can get. I've heard about them running instances in raid format so as to wipe all experience points -- just so they can get certain boss drops. I've heard all manner of things. But this one just makes me go "wha?"
According to Haetred on the official forums, since the patch people have been unable to apply the Spellthread enchant to any pair of legs lower than level 35. Now, originally his(her?) post wasn't saying "un-nerf this" - it was simply asking for consistency. If Blizzard was going to remove Spellthread's ability, then you needed to remove everyone's ability to have these in the lowbie brackets so as to avoid any potential imbalance. (We hear that word thrown around a lot in regards to PvP, really.)
As opposed to that, Nethaera came back and let the original poster know that this nerf is an unintentional bug, and that Spellthread will once again be available to people of all levels in an upcoming patch. Now I can't speak for anyone else here (and I'm sure I'm about to get torched for this, probably) but it seems to me that Spellthread and Clefthide/Cobra armor kits are becoming the new Crusader/Lifestealing of the Battlegrounds. I can't even fathom using those on a low-level character considering what kind of money I'm going through on consumables. I'd be more inclined to sell a spare one than to use it on a character that eventually will level out of that gear. (Not that I wouldn't happily take the money from someone wanting to use it on a twink, mind.)
What do you think about using Spellthread and the high-end Armor kits on Battleground twinks? Does it seem like a crazy expensive thing to do to you too, or am I just not 'l33t' enough to understand? I can't fathom spending that in the face of the cost of raid progression (well, up until now...) but maybe that's just me.

I am not very fond of twinks, I say remove it. Give it high level requirements, like many of the armor kits. Twinks are the last people I'd say that are allowed to talk about "balance".

I twink my alts for pve (don't really care about wow pvp).
I don't look at this as a cost in gold, but as a cost in time. The question I ask myself when i get a piece of equipment for an alt is "how much difference is this gonna make in how fast i can level with this char?", compared to the time it costs me to get the gold (or mats, or whatever) to get the upgrade.
For instance, if I spend one hour farming primal mana I'm pretty sure I'll have enough to make a mystic spellthread (with some to spare).
So, at the cost of one hour on my main, i now have 25 spell damage and 15 stam. Is that worth it? Hell yes. 25 spell damage at low levels is a LOT. It will help you get levels faster, more importantly, it will reduce the time spent in zones/level ranges you don't like. (Yes, I rather spend an hour killing the cutesy blue blobs for primal mana, than spend five minutes more in duskwood than is necessary).
So yes, I twink. Happy to do so.
The thing a lot of people (usually the ones that picked one char and stuck with it :p) don't really take into consideration is that leveling the alts also takes time. And while it might be nice to have a level 70 priest because your guild really needs a healer, you might not want to spend hours and hours in say, duskwood. Or desolace. The twinking reduces that time. I rest my case :D

Well, most twinkers will say anything should go. It's all part of the twinkers "lifestyle" but it really does ruin it for the non-twinkers or for the newbies that just don't know any better or just want to try out a BG when they first start playing them.
If I was just starting out, it sure would make me to never want to BG ever again.
On the other hand, if it weren't for the non-twinkers, there'd really be no reason to twink, eh? I mean, what's the point of twinking if there's nobody to destroy?

I think its crazy, but hey, im a tailor, more money for me! I'd rather see raid content than spend booku gold on a lvl 20 twink. If I want mindless pvp all day, i'll play battlefield 2 / 2142.

All the twink bashers just don't get it. "True" twinks don't want to beat up on lowbies enemies in grey gear. What's the challenge in that? The "true" twinks relish the battles where they are put up against other well geared and skilled players. Then it really comes down to teamwork and skill, and that is what brings the satisfying victory. There is no satisfaction in one-shotting a lev10.
Luckily, the new gear matching system makes the games much more balanced. Non-twinks play against non-twinks, and twinks play against twinks. Best thing Blizzard has done in a while. Gets rid of all the non-twinks complaining about the better geared characters, and gives the twinks some real competition, which after all, is really all they are looking for.

I have a full blown twink mage ( Gkilla on Medivh ) and while it is amusing to see the lvl 10 running aroung the BG, I usually leave them alone unless they attack me ( which obviously is the nature of pvp ) and when they do, I literally can one shot anybody nontwink up to lvl 17. But when matched against a full twink rogue and going head to head and winning knowing I could lose at any time? Much more satisfying
