For those of you who didn't want to wander through the extremely long transcript for the Stratics House of Commons Dev Chat in the last post, I thought I would point out one extremely pertinent bit. According to Tigole, Kalgan, Drysc and Eyonix, patch 2.1 is going live tomorrow morning to all servers. If you've been holding off on running the torrent, or meaning to look for that patch mirror site but never got around to it, you might want to get that download started. In either case, patches generally mean strange bugs and rolling restarts, if not an extended downtime in the first place. Best to prepare for an extended WoW jones now and some frustration as the bugs get worked out of the system.
Me? I've got my World of Warcraft home game, WoW Insider, and caffeine. I'm ready to face patch day!
What kind of things do you do on patch day? Have any particular things you do on maintenance Tuesdays like the WoW LJ community does with their Caturday - Servers Screwed thread? Share your tips and save your fellow WoW players from boredom tomorrow!
Edited to add: Yep, Drysc confirmed extended downtime:
We will be performing extended maintenance on May 22 for all realms.
Argent Dawn, Aggramar, Arthas, Azgalor, Bleeding Hollow, Bloodhoof, Burning Blade, Burning Legion, Durotan, Earthen Ring, Elune, Eonar, Eredar, Gilneas, Gorefiend, Kargath, Laughing Skull, Lightning's Blade, Llane, Lothar, Madoran, Magtheridon, Malygos, Mannoroth, Medivh, Shadowmoon, Shattered Hand, Skullcrusher, Stormrage, Thunderhorn, Thunderlord, Trollbane, Warsong, Zul'jin

I sit in the corner, hugging my knees, gently rocking back and forth, and quietly wait for maintenance to be over. Actually, I catch up on my my Tivo'd shows. Yes, I have a very full life.

Living in Australia, our server should go down about 8pm local time, giving me the opportunity to spend a WoW-free night with my husband. If all is working as intended when I wake up tomorrow, then I have to decide whether or not to pull a sickie.
*cough* *cough* *sniff!*
I'm already laying the groundwork here at work, just in case...

What happened to "smaller more controlled" patches with a quicker release schedule. This thing is a monster, it's going to be buggier than an anthill.

Can't wait for epic flight form! Whee!!
and @8- Smaller patches would be a lot more convenient for the players, since bugs would be fixed closer to when the were found. However, downloading lots of small patches can be annoying and I'm sure releasing them could be as well... though I still think it would be worth it to all but the most casual of players.

Go to work, if only I was lucky enough sit around and dream up little things to do instead of indulging my addiction.

I'm thinkin, finish up season 2 of Carnivale, and watch the season finale of Heroes over and over again. IMO it's one of the best finales ever! (oh and that little thing called work.)

still hoping that they take out the primal nether requirement for the new engineering goggles. Never seen one drop in non heroics, a good way away from getting keys for heroics.

Well, apart from having school, and praying on my way back home for the realms to be up; I either do homework, play Wii, or play DS. Those keep me distracted for a while :P

Downloaded, patched and confirmed! Version 2.1.0 (6692). The Mac variant of "Patches" ended up being 279 MB, and only the last 9 MB had to be downloaded just now, thanks to previous trickling in the background. A few seconds later, and "The update was successful." Of course, without any realms up, I can't do much except go to sleep and hope for a few solid minutes in between crashes this afternoon. Crossing fingers for minimal add-on trouble..
