Reader Baxmaniac (thanks!) sends along a little tip that Blizzard's event calendar page has been updated, and Children's Week has been officially scheduled for patch 2.1.Usually, the event has appeared in the first week of May, so lots of players were wondering what exactly had happened to it-- were the children going to be abandoned this year? But though Blizzard hasn't given an official reason for the holdup, most likely it was because they're adding new Outland versions of the event, including all new pets (I'll be running to get my Metroid pet ASAP).
And finally, while Blizzard has not officially announced a date yet (do they do anything officially anymore?), the patch has been showing up on the background downloader, so it's a pretty good bet that 2.1 will be hitting tomorrow. By this time next week, you too could be carting little Dumbo the Elekk around Outlands.

considering there are still bugs and not-yet-patched in stuff promised for the PTR, i'd still hedge my bets on 2.1 tomorrow.
unless blizz feels like it's just time to drop the pretense and call 'release' a 'wide-scale beta'.

I chalked it up to Children's week being smack in the middle of the Darkmoon Faire at TB, but come on what kid doesn't want to go to the Faire?

there are no finite state in software. whatever you can read on your box. (2.0 ? HA ! just a new version of the software)
and an MMO is a "fluid" thing, a software always in change, you will NEVER got the "finale version without bug or modifications", even when the game will die.
developpers will always try to modify some things, to add new feature and so break here, repair there and so on.
the simply truth is : wow works. it does not crash the computer every day and characters got all their functions and capabilities.
if you could fathom how flexible computer source code can be and how complex games can be, you will accept the developpers need to DECIDE to RELEASE NOW the DAMN thing and improve it again and again and again and AGAIN !
the PERFECT software is the software the developper NEVER release. _never_ ("oups wait, there are some features I want to improve here..." )
(and pullleeeeze, don't tell me wow 2.0.6 or even 2.1 ptr is not better than was Wow 0.x beta and wow 1.0 )

Test realms are up.
The official announcement as of now is 'rolling restart tomorrow.'
There will probably be a new PTR patch today.
There are TONS of major bugs left to work out still.
The background downloader is NOT an indication of a patch the following week. The background downloader often runs for weeks for major patches, feeding out several small portions of the patch.
There will absolutely not be 2.1.0 live patch tomorrow.

Now confirmed..
New PTR patch today. There will NOT be a live 2.1.0 patch tomorrow.
You've got another 2 weeks to wait kids. The background download running doesn't mean a patch is coming the following week.

I find your post quite inciteful. I agree completely that this is just a game, and everything bad that happens is bound to happen because of the confines of the code and that that code needs to be modified as more bugs are found...but please...go troll in a language that you can properly understand and write as your writing in english not only hurts my eyes but gives me a headache. Disregard this if you learned english from playing WoW, as that much is apparent.

#9: When you are disparaging someone's command of the English language, it enhances your credibility to spell your own post correctly. That being said, the word you most likely meant to use in your first sentence is insightful.
Regarding the Children's Week event, does anyone know what the minimum level requirement will be for the new incarnation of the quest? I'm not looking for speculation, but if someone has actual information that they can provide, that would be very helpful. Many thanks!
