I love the forums on Tuesdays. That's when you tend to find a lot of really silly and fun threads about the most mundane aspects of the game. Several of them have become "Tuesday topics" on my guild's forums. Most are the most simple things that oftentimes you don't even think about, like this thread from yesterday...
Fortuna from the Zangarmarsh realm started up a thread titled "Top 5 reasons you die in WoW." It made me stop and think, because over the last couple of years, I think I've died just about everywhere, and in a myriad of ways. There was the first time I walked into the Cathedral in Scarlet Monestary when we pulled Mograine before we cleared the whole place. Oops. Then there was the time when I learned that the undead in Stratholme can see through stealth very easily. Not good. But then I got to thinking about the reasons I tend to die, and that was a whole other ball of wax.
Here's what Fortuna's list had to say:
5. Stupid Fel Reavers
4. I didn't know that using a gnomish shrink on Rag was going to do that.
3. It's only a rare mob. How hard can it be?
2. wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww1111111113333333333333. O crap.
1. Girlfriend walked into the room nekkid.
I have to admit, 5 and 2 have happened to me too -- a lot! Just for the sake of amusement, my list (across all of my highest characters) comes up something like this:
5. Playing crazy games with my guild mates (there's a post coming on this)
4. Falling off Aldor rise ( I swear, I can be on a flying mount and I'll still run off and miss that elevator. I just don't die anymore.)
3. Mage grinding: *aoe* *aoe* *aoe* *aoe* oom uh...
2. /cast
1. [ Disconnected from server ]
How about you? If you had to rank the top 5 reasons you tend to die in game, what would they be?

I usually die from doing something that was too high a level for me (although soon that won't be a problem), running OOM, not watching my health (bad habit, in a group I watch everyone else's health but my own ~.~), the classic bad pull, and the number one reason I die... HORDE! If we can only get rid of them, it wouldn't be a problem. :)

1) Raid Content.
Yea I know my #1 reason is kinda silly.
But I rarely die outside of Raids while trying out new bosses. So dying 20 times a day on Magtheridon while only dying once a week outside is a reason to put it on #1 :)

5) Dropping off that ledge that I'm "pretty sure" I can survive, only to realize at the last moment I can't and not getting levitate off soon enough.
4) Random wandering elites. http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/05/04/around-azeroth-wish-you-were-here/
3) Accidentally getting too much aggro during a raid. Shadow priests don't generally survive many hits.
2) Thinking I can pull the number of mobs I can pull plus one more! Or running into another mob while fighting one.
1) Alliance

5. Alliance sees me grinding they even have time to do a /lol /point /spit before finishing me in a orgie of crits and stuns.
4. Fat fingers hitting wrong buttons at wrong times - like Fear instead of fade (looks a whole lot alike if in a hurry).
3. Casting H.., H.. oh.. it was elite! :-/
2. Jumping off my flying mount, hitting the levitate to late, due to lag, as it needs to draw the last mobs on the ground.
1. Me jumping up and down in places where one should most surely not jump around.

3.) PW:S not being nearly enough to kite a Fel Reaver to Thrallmar.
2.) Panicking and hitting Psychic Scream only to have the mobs bring back friends.

I'm on a pvp situation... I'm a holy/disc priest.. I die a lot.
1) PvP situations where I'm used as bait since I have my spirit form when I die
2) Raid situations where the tank can't hold aggro or the hunters feign death after getting hit one time
and of course
3) My "Personal Favorite": dying, and then running back to my corpse, waiting for the coast to be clear, coming back to life, and being attack by a mob that runs when pacing (Like an owlbeast or yeti in winterspring). /cry

5. Having two whispered conversations and one in guild chat at the same time, thus failing to notice that a raptor is beating the crap out of me.
4. Thinking there's still time for my mount to easily leap down onto the moving platform from the top of Telredor when in fact I've already missed it by a long shot.
3. Forgetting that I am playing my level 26 mage and not my level 70 druid.
2. My cat starts to throw up on the rug just as I'm pulling a mob.
1. Leaping from a very high place (like the top of the tower in Wizards Row), hitting the button to shift into flight form in midair and instead hitting the button to change into dire bear form – I hang there for a split second and then *SPLAT*!
