What's the highest level character you've ever deleted?I haven't deleted many characters at all-- when I first started playing I was on Cenarius, and I still have about nine alts all there just sitting around, never realizing that I probably won't be back. Now, I'm on Thunderhorn, and pretty much all the characters I've started I've kept. Oh, there's been a few level ones that I created for fun, and I believe I made it to level 12 or so with a dwarf Hunter before I realized I didn't ever want to play Alliance again, but I think that's it-- I just can't bring myself to throw away any characters I actually spent time on.
But looking at the thread, I'm probably the exception. Lots of players toss their maxed-out characters all the time, either because they're frustrated with a class change, need extra room, or are just leaving the game for good.
So what's the highest character you've deleted and why?

I can be abit of an altoholic - but I went on a cleaning fling and deleted lots of lowbies, and almost all my Allies (kept the Draeni Shammy I started just to play through their beginning quests sometime...) Lots of alts I got to around 20 or so until i realized I didn't like (or didn't really comprehend) how to play them well, like my first character, a Tauren druid. Deleted. Warlock - deleted (though I did take away the knowledge that you can;t equip two specialty bags at once, like a soul bag and enchant bag, ugh). Lots of learning done on them so not such a waste really. Really though, if I'd just concentrated on one charatcer I could have gotten all the way to 60 before BC. Since BC, I've taken one BE Pally and gotten to 43 so far (yes, I'm a very casual player). But I think I'll stick with the Pally, 'cause he's a lot of fun to play. ;-)

I deleted a 37 Tauren Druid (my first character and main) to reroll Alliance on the same server.

@1 : You went to the bathroom once ? Good news, when was it :p ?
I never delete any character above level 10. I guess I've a lot of alt around the level 5-10 that I will never play again, but as long as I've enough space, I wont delete them.

I keep it simple normally... I have 1 character, per class on Stormreaver, my main server... I think Mug'thol is my Alliance server, but that's it.. I don't want to or have any desire to have a ton of alts on each server... I don't play with the friends I have on my main server, let alone another server... I'd pawn my account before I got frustrated enough to blow away a 70, hell, if I did that everytime they nerfed Druids, I'd permanently have a level 10...

I deleted a lvl 60 Druid pre-expansion. I thought I was quitting. I learned that lesson when I came back a month later. I still get ribbed for being a deleter in guild.

I deleted my lvl 53 dwarf hunter. I had already been sending most of gold to my up and coming priest, and my gear was seriously out of date so I just "screw it" and deleted him.

I personally feel bound to all my characters > Level 20. All below this is just killing some time or testing a new class (yes, that's right. i haven't tested out all classes yet (besides i never played horde so far too)). So, only these i do delete.
can't understand why someone willingly deletes a level 50+ char. There was some serious time spent on this.

I've only been playing for a little over a month but I've delete a lot of characters. I spent the time to try almost every class and race combo I liked. I've probably deleted 3 or 4 level 20s, and lot below that. For some reason I can't deal with leaving characters that I don't play on a server

I would never delete any of my characters if it wasn't for the 10 character per server maximum that is the bane of all altaholics. I haven't deleted any characters over lv.20; but, I have had to make some tough decisions in the past.
As a casual player I can't even imagine deleting a 60 or 70. Who would do such a thing?!

One of my boyfriend's very first characters was a Night Elf hunter (how original). He got him up to 32 and just became so uninterested with him that I decided to level him to 40 so he could finally have a character with a mount. Since this hunter was his first ever character to get past 20, it wasn't very...good. Lots of +spirit gear, all the points in beast mastery (this was quite a while ago when beast mastery wasn't very good), and he was still wearing the Defias gear and using a level 16 gun because he said he couldn't find any cooler-looking gear.
I ended up getting him to 45 and put a lot of gold into fixing him when I decided to delete him. I already have a level 43 hunter, and asking my boyfriend to get off his account so I could play his character was getting annoying, so we got rid of him.

Pre BC I deleted all my characters, with the same thoughts as the guy above...thinking I was quitting. DE'd all my epics and stuff (60 hunter 5/8 T2, 60 priest with a few epics, a couple lvl 30 alts). Gave EVERYTHING I had to a buddy...ie about 35 nexus crystals, a billion shards, 700g, enough herbs to keep any alchemist busy, etc etc.
After realizing "normal" video games on consoles sucked, I came back to WOW a month later.

The only character I deleted was my mage on Sargeras, and I did it a LONG time ago. The people that I was playing with (I knew them from a gaming forum) decided one day that they were tired of PvP and they moved to a PvE server. This is before the age of paid transfers, so I was either going to have to play a character without knowing ANYONE or go to another server, where another group of dudes I knew had a guild going.
I'd actually like to see a Breakfast Topic on generosity: When I deleted my character, I sold everything on him to a vendor and walked up to the first person I saw, and gave him something like 30 gold. Anyone else do something like that?

A while back I decided to transfer all of my characters to a new server, so I could play with a new guild I was enjoying.
Any characters on the old server, I knew I'd never go back to play, so I sold off all their excess stuff, DEed what I could and packed it all off to the transfers. I couldn't bring myself to delete anyone over level 30 though. There are now two characters of mine left over there, but the other 4-5 got deleted.
I've also had to delete one of my bank alts in order to make room for a new character on my main server. That was a bit of a blow, knowing how much I spent on those bank slots. :( (she had all the bag slots purchased) I've also deleted quite a few characters that were in their 20-30s who I just didn't like their class/race combos. Most of them, I've never rolled again, but one or two I kick myself for getting rid of because I ended up rolling the exact same character a second time. :P

34 - My first character ever, a Gnome Rogue. I'd gotten tired of playing him, the 30-40 push always being such a drag. I took up a druid instead - and cat druid is way more fun for me than rogue was.

I've been playing since closed beta, almost three years, so I've deleted many many characters in their 40s, and many more wayward alts of lower level. I've also reached the character limit twice, where you can't roll any more toon on any server at all.

I was transferring servers to play with RL friends ... so I stripped 5 guys of all soulbound items, vendored anything I could, and mailed the proceeds + whatever was useful to the high level pally. I deleted the guys under 40 and left 1 lvl 32 naked rogue (you know, in case blizz decides to give me a free day for having a guy on that server) and sent my pally packing to the new server.

Hey Mike, what were your main character's names on Cenarius? I've been there since launch day. There are so many servers now that it seems like a rarity to hear of someone from your server outside of the server forums.

Deleted a 60 Moo Shammy on Skywall 1st time I left wow (sent all DE'd stuff and gold to a friend).
Deleted a 60 UD Lock and 58 Orc Shammy on Anetheron the 2nd time I left wow (sent all the DE'd stuff and gold to same friend).
Now a 70 Gnome Rogue on Anetheron to kill the guy (and other friends) I gave all the shards and gold too. :-)

I don't delete characters. Who knows what the future holds? If nothing else, a unused character (complete with big bags and multiple bank slots) is a useful mule.
If and when I delete characters it will ONLY be because I have reached the 10/50 limit and I need the slot for a new alt.
If/when I leave the game, I will leave toons untouched. If I am confident I won't return I may give away my gold, as that is easy to replace if I ever came back. The toons and the gear is not so easy to replace.
