Wondering what exactly happens when you get exalted with the Netherwing faction to get that neat flying drake? Joni of Malygos has done the grind on the test realm and has some information for all would-be dragonriders.
After pretending to work for (and sabotaging) the Fel Orcs, she had to race six netherdrakes at honored reputation. On the way to exalted, she could complete 9 daily quests for reputation with the Netherwing. Finally, she hit exalted and got her "reward" from the Fel Orcs ... a personal audience with Illidan. Oops. Looks like those magical eyes can see through your disguise, and you'd be pretty much boned if the Netherwings didn't come down and save you.
Joni ended up being flown to Shattrath and getting to pick a free netherdrake from a number of available colors. The questline also gave her a nice trinket that summons a netherwhelp as a combat pet! She says the grind will take a non-human about two weeks if you do all the daily quests each day, and she plans on writing up a Netherwing guide to help those of us who are a little less motivated to do the whole thing on the PTR. Congratulations, Joni, and may you fly your dragon proudly through the skies of the test realm.

Earning 5k gold sucks. I was really hoping that by going through this quest line you would be able to achieve an epic mount without the need to spend gobs of gold. At this rate, probably not worth the trouble if you still have to buy the riding skill.

So are the quests just repeatable collect x and kill y to gain rep after the intial chain? Does the chain take you into any of the instances? I'm just wondering how possible this will be for me since I am not a raider. I'm hoping you will not need to go into any of the Raid instances to get this.

Jesus. If i hear one more person QQ about 5k gold...
I earnt about 3.5k gold just getting to freekin level 70. Without tradeskills, without visiting the auction house. I just got that much from vendoring greens and quest reward money.
Seriously...man...dont complain.
Its SO easy to farm 5k gold...and anyway. This is intended as a reward for those who allready got their epic flying mount, not an easy route for the lazy beggers that want everything without any effort at all.
Stop QQ'ing and start farming and you'll be surprised how fast you get the money. I got mines about 2 days after i dinged 70, which was about 9 days after TBC release.

@7 Erm no the netherdrake was first just said to be a reward to those who got exalted with Netherwing, not a reward to those who already have an epic flying mount and imo 5000g is hard to earn so why do you go fuck yourself

Am I the only person more interested in the trinket than the mount?

I agree with Dabura on this one. You're probably one of those people who sold the Mage books for 300 gold then complained when your grouped Mage didn't have the 70 food/water to give you. Quit yer bitching. Other people have a worse time grinding for gold than you do, so if you want to help alleviate the trouble why not share the wealth.

That is such a cool event at the end! A feeling that a reputation with a group gets you more than gear and instead is shown by them saving you. I am definitely doing this.

Grinding gold is EASY in outland...as long as you're smart about it. Use your professions, kill the right mobs (Nagrand Ogres are my favorite), farm some motes...in 3-4 hours a day I make about 80g, not counting selling stuff on the AH on a low pop server. And you can always, at lvl70, go out to someplace like Tyr's Hand and kill easy stuff for big bucks and

Go respec, you act like it isn't an option. Hell, don't respec and farm with some of your friends, or even better! Get a damage set gear (feral or balance it doesnt really matter) and farm with that w/o respeccing. Tada, you can now kill stuff.
PS I'm also a druid, I've been that route before

Im a 50 point Resto shaman and have an Epic flying mount and about 3k gold in the bank and I raid. I play about 3-4 hours outside of raiding which is about 10-12 hours a week. If you arent playing more than 4 hours a week as a casual you are considered inactive.
Just from doing the quests in shadowmoon I made 500g. With the new quests in 2.1 patch if you cant make 2k gold off them alone you are a nub and need to delete your account and go play another game so we can stop listening to you QQ.
Casuals stop spending your money on useless crap and learn to save. People that QQ about 5k gold for flying mounts are the sort of people that max out there credit cards at christmas and wonder why there financially screwed for the rest of the year.
Take your QQing to some one who cares, my minature violin is in the shop.

Y'know, I was walking around Hellfire the other day and boom, 50g just fell into my pocket. In Outland, even the air is made of gold.
It's easier then the 1k you used to have to pay for the ground epics pre-BC. I know the gold sellers haven't dropped their prices since BC came out and you may actually have to farm a little for access to the BEST mounts in the game, but life is hard for all of us.
