Well, this week we don't quite have live maintenance, but we don't have a full regular maintenance, either. Eyonix informs us that starting at 5:00 AM PDT (or 8:00 AM EST) all servers will be offline for approximately three hours for
maintenance to the authentication databases. Most US players won't notice an early morning maintenance like this, but sadly, it still falls right in prime time for Australian players, for whom it starts between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, depending on their time zone. Sorry, folks -- I'd be pretty frustrated if regular maintenance hit during my prime time play schedule, too.

Re: Tuesday maintenance
It's always a sad night for us Aussies. Last week I got home from work, had dinner, logged onto WoW and was greeted with the message "Server shutdown in 1 minute.".

wow have some mean commenters on today.
ffxi had their 7 hour maintenance during the middle of the day for U.S. players. Japanese developers i guess didn't want to get up in the middle of the night to cater to their wider subscription crowd.
Any blog is better than no blog (besides where people complain about their chars being nerfed..i have 8) because it gives me something to get distracted with :P.

This blog entry was useful to me in that I hadn't known about the Australian prime time/maintenance issue. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Elizabeth raises an important question that has long annoyed many Australian players (myself included). While having one night a week of regular maintenance is good because it encourages us to have a life (or get one if we don't already), it is also really annoying.
I agree with TwhiT, people who randomly complain about nothing is even more annoying that losing a night's gametime.

Wasn't it last week or the week before when they ran maintenance at normal times for US servers, but the Oceanic flagged ones where done later, at what equated to 5am Australian EST. Why couldn't they do that again here?

I hope that the login process is smoother now. Being an Oceanic player in Asia, it's strange to see the IP logins not goto California but head all the way to New York. Wonder if this will help with the current lag faced by Oceanic players.
