Most of my adventures in Azeroth were completed without the benefit of sound or music. I didn't have anything against the sounds -- I just usually forgot to put my headset on, or was too busy listening to the raid leader/television/football game to enable the sound options. Finally, about halfway through BWL, I realized that the sounds could be pretty dang helpful. The clicking sound of a backstab that didn't go off is a lot easier to notice than the little red text, and it's much quicker to tell when you've aggroed a mob when you hear it roaring, squealing or screaming at you.
The WoW General Forums have a thread going of the most annoying sounds in WoW. Early contenders include a warlock's imp, jewelcrafting sounds, and murlocs. A quick poll of my Shattered Halls group revealed two clothwearers who hated the sound of a rogue's Cheap Shot and stealth, probably because of the impending doom they spell. (The two other votes for most annoying were the sound male humans make when they die and one of our officers talking on Vent.)
Since I'm a rogue myself, I've long gotten used to those noises. My least favorite sound is ... pretty much anything in Silithus, actually. I hate the buzzing noises of the silithids and the way the flying ones move. They move just like real wasps, and since I'm allergic to wasps, the sound and the movement combined make me panic a little bit inside.
What's your least favorite sound in WoW? Or, on the contrary, are there any awesome sounds or music that you can't get enough of?
Edited for a helpful tip: You can turn off the "not enough mana" and "not enough energy" vocals in the sound options while leaving all the other sound options on.

I play a rogue as well and the most annoying noise for me is "You've not enough energy". It can be avoided by being less "twitchy" and timing the attacks, but no matter how good you are, if you gouge at the wrong time and its down to the last second before it breaks you know you are smashing the back stab key as well.

I've got to agree with the imps being most annoying. I didn't mind them when I first started playing, but then they started coming out with those stupid sayings and irritated the hell out of me.
One of my favourite sounds is the voice of the Voidwalker, I think they sound like ED209 from Robocop!

I use sound as my other sight in-game, I listen to when spells dont go off, my fellow healers heals, and where danger comes from, I just cannot play without sound its dang near impossible for me to play without it, cus I rely so heavyly on the sound that comes from different sources.
The most annoying sound is the sound of "inner focus" still awaiting discharge, this is most annoying inside the halls of large buildings and MC, not only does my soundcard replica the suroundings but the sound of that constant "sound" is to much for me to listen to...
On the other hand my Holy Fire is dang near the most sweet sound in the world, not only does it sound like fire, but the whole "from the sky hitting someone with a cracking of the sky"- sound is just ...mmmmm sweet.
Beyond that I could point out a few people on TS who should shut the hell up hehe :D-
But I simply do not get people who can play without sound, the whole aspect of "senses" dissapears completely if one does not have the sense of hearing as well as sight.

Just recently I turned off my WoW Sound for the first time in two years....
I had to kill 10 of them Stealthed Spiders in Blade's Edge Mountains. Seriously that screeching sound they make, made my skin crawl.... O.o

I just got to 66 last night, and the new loud sound doesn't sound good or have any reason for sounding like it does. Just a loud "earhrhrh!". I wish i could turn off just that noise... or replace it with something else.

I'm lost without my sound - my gameplay is seriously gimped if I can't have it on for some reason.
The scariest sound - rogue stealth...cause you know you just passed *really* close to something nasty.
My happiest sound - Nightfall proc in melee range. :)
Most annoying sound - up until last night, I wouldn't have had one. But the sounds (and I mean all the sounds) the spiders in Bloodmyst Isle make are the worst...I was cringing every few seconds - and of course you have to kill about 30 of em to get up to the named guy. I hearthed home rather than fight my way back down listening to more of it.

I think that "da da da dump" sound in WSG when the opposite team captures a flag, on in AV where they are assaulting your towers is awful. My roomate complained about it being very annoying, and after he mentioned it, I do agree that it is just too loud in comparison to everything else thats going on in the game at that time. I think they need to tone that sound down, or change it to something not so annoying. I do think you need to hear a sound when they are assaulting things, just not that sound and not so loud. In AV it plays that sound ever few seconds if they are attacking Galv or something.
