WoW on iPhone?

iPhone World is reporting on an anonymous tip from a "reliable source" that Apple's forthcoming iPhone will run WoW:
- The Source said, "watch out for the iPhone and their new video iPod when it comes to gaming. Imagine playing WOW on them using the touch screen interface. Think of the impact its going to have on the handheld game market and Apple's revenue."
- He/she said He/she was told that WOW on the iPhone worked with both WiFi and EDGE (without simultaneous phone use) and full multi-tasking with 3G in the future. New iPod will utilize WiFi.
P.S. The above image isn't evidence of WoW on iPhone, it's just a quick Photoshop.

Eeek, sorry. Was supposed to be a comment in there, I guess the system stripped it out.
Was going to say, there is an extrapolation on the idea of WoW (or any MMO) on a mobile device.

I'd love to see a WOW Lite client available on mobile devices.
How's this?: AH, inventory, and Talent accessibility. That's it. Your character would need to be logged out in a city so it wouldn't be exploited as a quick way to hit up AH.

Think again I am sure companies already been thinking of this for a while... Ha I thought about this when I fist came across this game and started using the AH.... It be a simple way to log onto ur bank and make transactions etc.... For those hr breaks buy/sell the AH be flooded and you have more people buy this phone if it was possible... I know I would.. Plus the phone can support WoW but not at 100%. HAve you seen the game DOOM on the cell phone dude imagine a lil bit of advance technology and some WoW clients this is a marketable seller. Trust me I am sure apple would like to make this possible 8million players at least half would get this apple would become push its way high on the competition... Plus theer are cell phones with ubs mines got it...

Aside from the fact that no third parties will be allowed to write software for the iPhone (only hand-picked companies under contract from Apple), there is no way that device could run WoW or any modern game. The processor wouldn't handle it, and even if it could, it'd suck your battery dry.
Right now, the highest-end phones are about the same in processing power as a late-nineties PC. Think Diablo, not WoW.

This is totally fake, I think the default install size of WoW w/ TBC is 10GB and the largest drive in an iPhone is only 8GB not including the OS ( which is about 500 MB). Not to mention you need about 1GB of ram to run it, which the phone will not have.

Over here in Japan there is a dungeon crawler arcade game called Quest of D which allows you to access your character's storage account via your cellphone to preform a variety of actions including auctions and forums. If WoW had something like that it would be pretty cool.

Perhaps they will offer the ability to just chat with your friends list, and, perhaps, cruise the AH.

Think about your current cell phones and PDAs which use an ARM processor. Is the "real internet" available on many or any of them? In all likelyhood, it's not. You get a trimmed down version of particular websites that consists solely of text. Part of the reason for this is probably the bandwidth needed to download web pages off of the "real internet" the other part is the arm processor and it's capabilities. One of the big selling points of the Iphone is that it is capable of displaying the "real internet" in its browser. I think it would be a big step up from there to be able to play PC games on that processor versus just displaying web pages in a browser. The cache and amount of memory an ARM processor uses is also much less than an x86 CPU which is currently needed to play wow. Rumor has it though that the big brother to the Iphone will have an x86 cpu driving it. When you add hardware accelerators for the display and multimedia (which I am sure the curren Iphone already has) it makes it very feasable that the next generation Iphone could play wow.

Well this other MMO I used to play, had a mobile phone game you can play. It wasn't the actual game but a sort of minigame. However any money you make in it, you can transfer to your real account.
I'd love to see something like that.

to #17, ThatGuy... You really haven't played with the current SmartPhones and PDA's much have you? Yes, you have limited resolution, but you can access most every site in full glory of images, java, javascript and sometimes even Flash. Sites designed for mobile access have very little imagery or bloated scripting because the naturally slow data connections and the huge charges for having a data connection (pay by the KB? *shudders*).
By no means do I think that WoW will be ported to a smart-phone (iPhone or not), I do think it is possible to extend some WoW functions to it. Chat, AH, etc are possible but unlikely due to the fact that it would open up a way to more easily analyze the data streams and find ways into the system.
More than likely, rather than WoW, we might see rehashes of the original WarCraft games for use on the phones, with possible ways of connecting to Battle.NET to do multiplayer over WiFi or Cell-Data connections.
