And I do mean quick, because these prices likely won't stay this way for long. MBAzeroth points to a forum guide written up by Fanfan on the Mal'Ganis realm forums (that link, strangely enough, doesn't work-- did Blizzard take it down or move the thread somewhere else?) which he says netted him a shiny 1,000g in just two hours. All of it relies on the Primal motes of Air, Fire, Water, Mana, and Earth-- those mots can be combines to make the Primal elements used in all kinds of professions, from Leatherworking to Tailoring and Enchanting. Since everyone is currently working on making their way to 375, sales of this stuff are huge on the AH, and with droprates the way they are, you can net a pretty penny with just a few hours of grinding in these places. Of course that means the more people that find out about this (and the more people that finish their profession leveling), the less it will be worth. But if you get moving on this in time for the weekend AH rush, you could likely make a good headstart on your epic flying mount.
The entire guide after the jump.
Nagrand - Elemental Plateau (67,23)
Wind Elementals = Drop 1-2 motes of air, 10x combines to 1 Primal Air = ~20g per
Fire Elementals = Drop 1-2 motes of fire, 10x combines to 1 Primal Fire = ~25g per
Water Elementals = Drop 1-2 motes of water, 10x combines to 1 Primal Water = ~20g per
2 hours of farming yielded 978g
Nagrand - Lake South of Throne of Elements (58,26) under the water
Water Elementals = Drop 1-2 motes of water, 10x combines to 1 Primal Water = ~20g per
Netherstorm - Ruins of Enkaat (34,57) north of area 52
Mana Wraiths = Drop 1-2 motes of mana, 10x combines to 1 Primal Mana = ~15g per
Rock Elementals = drop 1-2 motes of earth, 10x combines to 1 Primal Earth = ~10g per
1 hour of farming yielded 500g
Shadowmoon Valley - The Hand of Gul'dan (47,45)
Fire Elementals = Drop 1-2 motes of fire, 10x combines to 1 Primal Fire = ~25g per
Rock Elementals = Drop 1-2 motes of earth, 10x combines to 1 Primal Earth = ~10g per
2 hours of farming yielded 840g

I call BS on this.
First of all, most of those areas are pretty populated. Its hard to grind for 1 straight hour non stop.
Second, farming earth elementals suck. According to my drop rate calculator (mobinfo2) the drop rate for Earths is around 20-30%. The rest are around 50% for the highest level mobs.
Third, the math doesnt add up. Take the first example with primal fires: 25g per, .5 motes per mob. To get 1000g in 2 hours you would have to get 40 Primal Fire, which is 800 Fire elementals in 2 hours. Thats 800 Fire elementals in 7200 seconds, or 1 Fire elemental every 9 seconds.
These Fire elementals have about 9000 health and have a fire shield. The Air Elementals have a nature shield and chain lightning. Waters are easier, but they have a water bolt and you have to swim through the water / remount to find others. So there is a fair amount of downtime as well.
I can get about 6 Primal Airs in an hour, Hunter in all 68+ blues. Thats going balls out and is hardly fun at all. Duoing with a rogue friend, we got 12 Primal Airs in 1.5 hours. However, thats not by yourself.
Heres a more accurate description:
Farm Primal Airs for 2 hours: get 12 Primal Air, sell to the AH for 240g. Not bad money, but not 1000g.
Oh and for your efforts you also get elemental shards and BoE greens. Add 20g.
Total: 260g for 2 hours work

Elementals drop motes. Motes and primals sell. You can make money killing elementals to and selling their motes and primals.
This is breaking news to people?

Yeah, what #3 said, there's no way that this is that lucrative. It's nice farming, don't get me wrong, but there's no way that it's 500g/hr.
Assuming all primals are 20g, to make 500g/hr, you'd need to get 25 primals an hour, or 250 motes an hour. Assuming that the droprate is 50% (which is quite generous in my experience), that's 500 mobs an hour, or a bit over 8 mobs a minute, or a mob every 7.2 seconds. With each of the mobs having 7000 or so hitpoints, that's roughly 1000dps, sustained. Even with a mob perfectly repopping in front of you every time you kill the previous one and infinite mana/health, that's just not realistic.

I get roughly 1 primal every 15 minutes. I see no reason to spend 20g for a quick 15 minutes of work, which often nets me around 5g in crap to sell on top of the primal.
Those things will eventually level out to being around 3-4g a piece I'm assuming.

It's hardly rocket science though is it? I mean, everyone farmed elementals from 40-60 for essences, now you can farm 60-70 for primals. See the connection? Elementals = good drops.

I'm not telling my top secret farming spot. It's mine! All mine!
I can AOE farm about 100 sunfury signets and 5 arcane tomes or so, plus a boatload of greens per hour as long as some jerk doesnt backstab my priest in the middle of a 15 mob pull. On my server, the signets are about 20g for 10 and the tomes are 25g/piece. I'm arcane so I have to bring along my much

Couldn't get to the Elemental Plateau. I guess you need a flying mount to get up there.
It's a little annoying as an elemental shaman to farm earth and air elementals, they're immune to nature spells. The water elementals weren't difficult though.

#12's top secret farming spot is Illidan's Black Temple in Shadowmoon, turn right as soon as you enter and theres a ramp with several dozen 67-69 blood elf's all lined up in nice neat rows. No caster mobs, very few pats, and on a 3 min respawn. Pretty much built for aoe, best farming spot ive seen in the game so far.

Great guide for the actual spots to grind, terrible math though. I used this guide for grinding spots to get my epic flying mount (just bought it a couple days ago--woot), though realizing his hourly rate was completely off. Here's the reality.
Elemental Plane - the best place to grind, by far (yes, flying mount required to get here). Well, that is if there's no competition. And there always is, morning, noon & night. When being heavily farmed the second a wind dude pops, there's 4-5 guys rushing to tap him. All the mobs are in a tightly packed area, so everyone can pretty much see when something pops. That and they're all 70-71, so no pushovers. As a hunter I have a big advantage, no melee class has a chance against my tracking and range, but it's still a lot of camping respawns.
Now this is if all the other farmers are of your faction. If you're Horde and you go there and there's 3-4 Ally working the fields, prepare to get ganked and farm somewhere else. I would say about 10-15% of the time I was there, I was alone and it was a farmer's dream, 20-25% there was too much ally, and the other time it was other Horde. So in that case I was safe to farm most of the time and was pretty lucky. But expect intense competition for your motes here.
With competition and waiting around for an elemental to pop, you can still get 3-4 primal airs in an hour. On my server at the time I was turning them it was 26-32g per. So I could make 75-125g/hr depending on competition and AH prices.
Nagrand - Lake South of Throne of Elements - Primal water goes for about half of what air and fire go for on my server. Never bothered with these guys, there are better places.
Netherstorm - Ruins of Enkaat (34,57) north of area 52 - When Elemental Plane was being dominated by ally, I tried this area. These guys are immune to a lot of stuff, but not too tough. Zero competition. Primal Mana was going for 20-22g, quite a bit less than fire and air, so I didn't spend a lot of time here. Rock guys are useless, Primal Earth is a dime/dozen on my server compared to fire/air.
Shadowmoon Valley - The Hand of Gul'dan (47,45) - my 2nd favorite spot to grind and this is where I'd go when there were too many farmers or ally to work Elemental Plane. There's competition here, too, but it's a far bigger area to work, so it's not too bad. Fire was going for 25-27g, a bit lower than Air, but easier to work here.
I also farmed Netherweb Spider Silk from spiders near Bone Wastes in Terokkar. They're used in the netherweave bags and other stuff. At the time they were going for 7.5g a piece and I could get 15-20 in a hour with effortless kills and zero competition. But prices dropped to 4.5g in a couple of days making these less desirable.
All in all, I raised about 2g in about a week's worth of play, playing a few hours every night. Enough to be the first in my guild with the epic flying mount.

I'm not sure why nobody mentioned the Kirin'var village, or more precisely the Wizard Row. This place is filled with mana wraiths and similar mobs, and can get you quite a few mana primals in an hour. and they sell for 22-25g on my realm, so pretty good spot too.
