Tseric is confirming on the Blizzard forums that BC has already gone gold (i.e. been shipped for mass duplication -- "going gold" in the software industry doesn't refer to sales numbers as it does in the music industry), indicating that Blizzard has every expectation that the expansion will meet its planned January 16 ship date. This comes as a response to recent rumours claiming yet another delay for Burning Crusade. No more delays -- time to pen in the release date on your calendars. Can we get a /cheer up in this piece?! Speaking of January 16, here's a heads up to tune in to WoW Insider starting January 1 for our official Countdown to Burning Crusade -- every day we're going to be giving away Free StuffTM via a series of daily contests. So be sure to check in for some fun and some cool prizes, and join us to share in the excitement as we count down to BC on (confirmed!) January 16.

What's the over/under on Pallies being nerfed January 16 (the day before the expansion, i.e., the day before Horde acquire them)? And if not 1/16, what is the over/under on a patch doing so by January 30?

But the question still remains; how MANY copies will be on store shelves? Can they print that many that fast? are we gonna have a console launch situation on our hands?

 The patch is a trap bet...nothing in history has been more certain than there being a repair/nerf patch, once BC goes online.
I'm betting on mages getting the nerf, though, not pallies. They got zapped pretty good, by omission, when 2.0 came in, but I'm pretty sure the devs aren't done trashing mages, yet.
Also, the economy of Wow is headed for a severe crash, as the materials supply goes totally south...or in this case, west. With all the players either in BGs or Outland, you can forget the AH, which Wow has been trying to kill since it's inception.
Do I sound bitter? Good.

@1: paladins are getting nerfed. vengance is being reduced to 10%, CS is on a 10s timer.
beyond that, i wouldn't expect too much in the way of outright 'nerfs' anytime soon.

The bigger question is, do I have to buy a physical copy or can I download it online?

@7 > Physical copies only. No downloads as far as I know.
I predict long queue times, server crashes and long patches. You might be able to buy TBC on the 16th, but play it? Hah.

Burning Crusade coming to you on Jan 16th! Huge patch, followed by endless server nightmares coming to you Jan 17th! Aside from giving retail shops something physical to sell, why does Blizzard even bother releasing a disc for the expansion when almost all of the content will be replaced by subsequent patches?

All I need is for Amazon to ship in time, and I'm good.
