Cheri asks if learning a weapon skill just because a weapon looks cool is dumb. If you're asking me, Cheri, I'd say, "not at all." She's even talking about just learning a weapon skill, and I'm saying that if you have to respec just to use a cool looking weapon, go for it.My Shammy was all about shields and maces while leveling, all the way up until Kang the Decaptator dropped and I won the roll. I couldn't pass it up-- I went ahead and grabbed the two-hand spec point just to wield that weapon. Nowadays, as a resto raider, I'm back to using the snake mace and a shield, but if a terrific caster staff dropped and fell into my hands, I wouldn't mind switching at all. Likewise, after looking at the rogue builds, I decided to go for a combat daggers build because it seemed like that would let me do what I wanted as a rogue. But I can't seem to find two daggers that look really cool to wield-- I have to say, I'm seriously thinking about speccing swords (away from my beloved backstab!!) just to wield two gigantic blades of destruction. Heck, I've even worn a cloth headpiece for a while on both my Shammy and my Rogue, just because I thought it looked much better.
The purists among you are probably apoplectic by now, shocked that I would choose a piece of gear for its looks rather than its stats, or that I would change my playstyle simply for cosmetic reasons. But what can I say-- the looks make the Orc. What's the point of min/maxing all those abilities and that equipment if you can't look good doing it?

I was kinda annoyed when my level 52 priest won a blue chestpiece in Sunken Temple. It replaced the robe she'd won in Maraudon a few levels back, and was definitely an upgrade... better int, better spirit, probably even some +healing. But I was sad because it made her look mannish. Female dwarf priests just look better to me when they're wearing robes, not vests.
So when I lucked into a ZG spot and then lucked out even more by winning the Flowing Ritual Robes (my first epic! awesome stats, +spell/healing!) I was stoked not just because my effectiveness and uberness had improved, but because she now looked like I wanted her to look.

We have to stare at our characters a lot, they might as well look sleek, brave, heroic, sexy, sneaky, evil, fearsome and/or funny...whatever it is that makes you enjoy the game!

As a hunter I used daggers up til maybe L40 or so and then switched to two hand sword. I will admit some of that was due to looks - that big sword on your back looks cool!

I agree with this post. Like my paladin. Most of the time, while soloing, I'll be whipping out the Sword & Board combo. Mostly due to the fact that I think swords look awesome. Now, on occasion, I'll use maces, or a two handed variety of the two weapons I listed previously, but my preference is Sword.

As a sidenote, the good thing about being a robewearer is that it covers your pants and boots. You can wear a nice robe on top of ugly but deadly gear. Also, trinkets, rings and amulets give that necessary oomph when someone tries to gank you in your RP gear. :)

I have become more fashion aware since my 60 started getting tier 0 items. Now my lvl 19 lock has an outfit for BGs and another for looks. And my Shadow Priest only needs one more lvl to wear a complete Shadoweave outfit. She also wears a Long Silken Cloak because it matches much better than the bright blue cloak that clashed with the purple color of the Shadoweave items.
I do not understand why sets are not equippable all at the same level. The Shadoweave set starts with the pants at lvl 37 and ends with the mask at lvl 44. When the last item can be worn, it's time to start looking for better items to replace the lower lvl ones.
I also agree that robes look better than pants and vests which look.....painted on. Except guys in robes look.....fruity.

As a rogue, I personally recommend the Fang of the Crystal Spider/Venomspitter combo. Stylish, and with a wide variety of procs! Of course, I have them fiery enchanted, poisoned, and have the Heart of Wyrm'thalak and two pieces of the Stormshroud armor... which makes the number of procs going off just ridiculous...

Nice looking equipment doesn't necessarily have only cosmetic value. In PVP, knowledge is power. Just because you know that your sword of superiority is really not all that powerful, it doesn't mean everyone else does. Unknowing players may react completely differently if they perceive you as a threat.

No I just think your a noob looks are just about as useless as rping (Im an rper though dont get me wrong.) They both dont help game play at all there just there to be there.

I choose everything for looks: race, class, weapons and armor. My NE hunter carries matching swords with beastslayer enchants, so they will glow red to match her red leather armor. My tauren warrior turned down a couple of better drops because they were pink. A bull does not wear pink!
