I have been seeing more and more posts like these popping up on the forums. I don't know if it is something in the water or what, but these requests seem to be multiplying like rabbits. Basically, the original poster is looking for a PvE to PvP server transfer. While I am not entirely opposed to the idea, I do think leveling up on a PvP server is a lot tougher than doing so on a PvE server. And I don't necessarily mean tougher as in more of a challenge, which you could argue that it isn't, I mean more of a time sink. The quests aren't any harder, nor the mobs, and if you are persistent you will finish all your quests and grind your way to 60 just like you would on a PvE server. There just happens to be folks waiting around every corner to slow you down as much as possible. I guess after you reach level 60 and you are getting the majority of your gear and loot out of instances, things even out, but even then, there are certain advantages to being able to venture across contested zones farming for herbs knowing you aren't going to get ganked or get into a 5 on 1 corpse camping situation.
I personally wouldn't be opposed to the idea if Blizzard created a few new servers for these PvE-to-PvP wannabees, but I am not sold on the idea that they should be allowed to transfer to an already existing PvP server. What do you guys think? Should Blizzard open up the floodgates? Make a new server? Or leave well enough alone?

I'm totally against that idea. I play on a PVP server since the beginning and I worked my way to 60 more than once. It's hard sometime because of the opposite faction. If they want to play on a PVP server, they just have to make a character and level it up to 60 like everyone else on that server... Then they will know what PVP means when they go to STV at level 32. And if they have a 60 already, it should be faster since they know the quest and how to play.
I do think that PVE is the easy way (And I tried it too, got bored actually), and moving to a PVP after reaching the maximum level is just like cheating to me.

In my own experiences, I started out on a PvE server, I leveled him to 43 and sort of retired him to play on a PvP server with more friends of mine. I leveled my main to 60 in less time than it took me to get my 43 Druid to where he was. Maybe it was because I was a noob at the time and had no idea what I was doing, but I just thought that PvE was alot more boring. However now that Im looking to create an alt itd be great to transfer over my druid to where I am now, with all of his gold and items that hes found already rather than starting from scratch. Unfortunatly Blizz doesnt allow this. However I have to ask on the "its easier to level on a PvE" if Im only 43, does it make that big of a difference? For instance maybe Blizz could open up the transfers for people not level 60 yet. I just hate how his gold and items are just sitting there doing nothing for me, when I could have much better use for him as an alt on my main server.

Leave it alone or give em thier own server in my humble opinion. I, like most people Ive talked to that have lvled a 60 on a pvp server, feel very strongly about this. Ive gotten 4 characters to lvl 60 on a pvp server and Im a casual player. I think if you really want to play with the big boys on a pvp server reroll a new character and go through the pain and joy that is lvling on a pvp server. Trust me when you get that last level its all the more sweeter if you earned it. I personally would be pissed if "care bear" 60's where allowed to transfer to my server, because its a right of passage IMO.
I dont mean to step on anyone's toes and Im sure people earned thier 60's on PVE servers, but its just not the same. People know what they are doing when they choose to go to a PVE or PVP server and if they didnt... well just count that first 60 as practice and reroll.
So pretty much no thanks or give em thier own server. I dont want em on my server unless they have gone through the joy that is STV at lvl 35-40 :)

To Freeze99:
The hardest part of levelling on PVP server I find is the 30 to 40. It would be done with your character already... And as for gold, can't you farm with your 60? I don't know how much money you have with your 43 but in my experience being a level 60 if you don't raid all night can be very lucrative when you start farming! And if you want an alt for you main, just make one up!
BTW, the first character you level always take longer... you don't know the game at first, you discover the world, you look for hours for some stupid quest etc etc... So yes, I say it's normal to be faster with your second or other characters, even more if like in your case, you have friend to help you with equipment/quest/instance on that server.

I already posted my opinion on this in yesterdays breakfast topic after going on a tangent heh. The point is and stands that it took PvP players the grief and effort to hit 60 under certain circumstances that PvE players do not have to go through. PvE players, if they want to play PvP, should have to go through everything PvP players went through.
It annoys me when level 60 PvEs want to switch to PvP. They should have done the research when they started playing. What other excuse can they give? There is no valid excuse for not doing your research before playing. It's like a while back when I used to read the WoW forums. There were these NE priests that were angry that their racials sucked more than the dwarves. Well guess what? You should have done the research before picking that "cool looking" race. What do you expect now? A free chance to switch races? Or allowing NEs to have the same spells as dwarves? Get outta here! Do the research first! (I know there are people that regret picking races that DON'T whine and cry about it. I /respect you. As long as you are not whining for something incredibily ridiculous, it's completely senseful to regret certain things)
That said, PvEers shouldn't get an easy cakewalk to 60 then the ability to go gank people just because they forgot that they started on a PvE server. That's just not right.
And as I was saying earlier, some people that go PvE simply want to quest and don't have time to get ganked. Sure they miss out on an integral part of the game but they do get to see endgame a heck of a lot faster. That, I'm fine with. If they want to play the game like that, so be it.
BUT if PVEers want a "EZMODE" to 60 without getting ganked and then later at 60, the right to GO ganking... come on that's just ridiculous. Everyone at 60 on a PvP server went through the ganking/getting ganked portion of the game. Why should PvEers suddenly get to enter at the top of the food chain?

What do you care if someone transfers from PVE to pvp? They're plunking down 25 bucks to do it. Not only that but if you're a l33t pvper then so what if a PVE n00b transfers over and you kill him whenever you see em? I've got 2 60's on PVE servers, and 2 on pvp servers. Dont flatter yourself it's not that different in levelling between PVE and PVP the last char I got up to 60 on a pvp server was also my fastest lvl 60 to date... Some of us chose PVE servers because the initial paradigm of WoW development was that pvp would be a BG sort of thing. The PVP ruleset was never intended to exist at the start(alpha/early beta stage), it was added due to popular demand. So some of us created our first chars on PVE servers because of that fact. Later I moved to a PVP server not for world pvp but because BG's were dead on my other server, and PVP servers tended to have the most active BG population. So now i've got a shaman i'm willing to pay 25 bucks to get moved over to my PVP server, how does me paying my money severely impact your playing experience?
My biggest complaint is that people complain about how unfair it is when they just shouldnt care. So what if someone spends extra money to move a char, if they're a n00b then pwn em when you see em. If they're not, then what's the difference of them spending a month lvling a new char or bringing an old one over? Them moving a char does not impact your life.

"If someone leveled on a PVE server, and finds that they like the aspects of random world PVP, but don't want to deal with the constant looking over your shoulder while leveling, they should be given the option to transfer to a server that more suits their needs."
Don't you understand man? That's the point. You SHOULDN'T get a free trip to PvP just because you want to.
If you want to suit your needs, level up on a PvP server. Why is this so hard to comprehend? Why should you be allowed to start at the top of the food chain? Where is the logic in this?
@8 (sparkfizt)
You seem to think paying money is a justifiable reason to be allowed to transfer. I'm not flattering myself. It IS different leveling on PvP and PvE. If you don't see a difference, you must be playing on a ghost server. I am not saying I am more hardcore than you. I am not saying I am better than you. I am saying there IS a difference between PvE and PvP. And that difference is the extra time and effort it takes to hit the top. You did not go through this extra time and effort in PvE.
"So what if someone spends extra money to move a char, if they're a n00b then pwn em when you see em. "
No one said you were noobs for switching servers. In fact, you're probably even BETTER geared than us because you DIDN'T have to go through the extra time and grief of leveling with gankers.
If everyone leveled on PvE servers and switched to a PvP server at 60, then leveling in a PvP server might end up next to non-existant and Blizzard would get rich (not to mention rich players willing to spend the money would get "EZMODE"). Ganking wouldn't exist. You'd be ruining a prime aspect of the game of the PvP server.

I've levelled a toon on PVE realm, and got to pvp rank 11 with it. Then I thought maybe levelling a toon on PVP realm would be fun and exciting, so I did. Tbh I was rather disappointed with world pvp. Apart from the occasional getting harassed by ?? allies, not alot happened. I think in my quest to 60 I've had maybe 5 'honorable' pvp encounters.
I see more pvp action in 10 minutes of BG than in 60 levels on a pvp realm.
I think if people want to transfer from PVE to PVP it should be possible, getting to 60 isn't alot harder on a PVP realm in my opinion. And really, the people that WANT to transfer to PVP, are mostly those that are good at pvp and want to experience it in the wild.

I feel that just because someone leveled on a PVE server, doesn't take away from the fact that they are 60. If someone leveled on a PVE server, and finds that they like the aspects of random world PVP, but don't want to deal with the constant looking over your shoulder while leveling, they should be given the option to transfer to a server that more suits their needs.
From my experience, PVP servers tend to be more mature in raiding and even premade BG groups, so it's natural that someone who is "growing up" in the game, would want the change.

I actually think it would be more reasonable to allow x-faction transfers than pve to pvp. My friend and I (not knowing that the other was playing wow) started on different servers and factions - both pvp. We both got ganked and griefed the same amount (probably). It would be kinda funny to see someone with the eye of ogrimar or the seal of wrynn on the unintended faction. It would be simple enough to let a person repick their race - they can already repick their name. This would have to be a transfer to a different server too I think.
...just a thought...

Carebears Should stay on Carebear servers.
If you roll on a PVE Server, its because you couldn't deal with getting ganked (pussy).
If you can't take it, You cant dish it out.
It's That simple.

I find it *very* interesting that the PVPers want the PVEers to stay off "their" servers. Why should we care whether a PVEer wants to come over?
If it's about an elitist attitude, well, I have the same thoughts about this as I posted back when we were having the gold-buying (& powerleveling) discussion. I.e, I did what I did for MYSELF, if I'm doing it for any other reason there are other issues there that need to be resolved. If I care that someone else didn't do the work to get to the same status as I, then I need to reevaluate things seriously.
I say let 'em on. After all, I should be able to gank your not-used-to-this 60 in a heartbeat. And for all the whiners--call the WAAAAAAAMBULANCE! Otherwise, ALL transfers should only be PVP -> PVP or PVE -> PVE (NO PVP -> PVE allowed either).

Compromise: allow people with 60's on PvP servers a one-time transfer of their PvE characters to consolidate onto their current server.

Eh, I really don't care. If you're shooting straight for 60 on a pvp server, I don't see it taking any longer. Just gotta be smart about outdoor questing and obviously there's nothing to worry about in instances. But a lot of players choose to engage in the outdoor pvp in which case sure, it takes you away from xping but that's by choice. As for skull level griefers, if I estimate all the time wasted being ganked or camped by them it's too small a percentage of the total time it took to get to 60 anyways. I think I've been more frustrated overall in bad pugs or tying to find those last few mobs for some kill quest.

I say let the freedom to move commence. Some people roll pve out of all the rumored nastyness of pvp. They hit 60 and get bored after raiding and trotting around SAFELY.
I have a close close friend who was a pve player for a year as alliance. Now he is horde on pvp.
His comments were usually in shock, annoyance, and sometimes glee with the pvp realm. He says its greatly different feeling. On the emotional level its very different he said. Venturing into zones that normally he never was afraid of now he sneaks and watches his back....and when he is confronted by the enemy he actually is faced with the decision to attack or not to attack...Tension city. He did say that the PVP atmosphere changed the feel of the game for him. For the better.
I don't see any valid reason to keep pve players off pvp. I only see selfishness in the posts about it.
I say bring it. More to pvp the better. Death to the SPineless realms I mean pve =p

Best solution out there. Many people had their initial 60 character leveled on a PvE server, but moved over to PvP. I'm in that situation.
I'm now on a PvP server with 3 60s, but kinda miss my mage that remains stranded on the old PvE server. Sure I could level another mage, but why should I have to? I would just like to consolidate the characters I have on one server.

Let's walk through the logic here.
1. You want to transfer to PvE to "play with your friends."
2. Your friends are straight up PvP thug gankers who mock your carebear pedigree.
3. You are too lazy to level a 60 on PvP.
4. You may or may not have spent months raiding epics.
Sounds to me like you deserve a chance to play with "your friends." But if you take the $25 shortcut, you gotta transfer naked and broke. No gear, no mount, no gold.
If you spent months raiding PvE you pay the price to come to PvP. Period.
Next question, please.
