A few folks in my guild who previously had great availability are refusing to raid on Thursday and Sunday nights. What kind of drama could cause this mass protest of normally hardcore WoW players? No, not guild drama. More like Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. With the fall TV season revving up, several of my guildies are setting their raiding schedule around the TV schedule. You'd think that this would be mostly women looking to take those nights off to watch female-oriented fare like Desperate Housewives, but the majority of the Housewives fans are male. I watch Desperate Housewives with my wife, and it isn't that bad, but I wouldn't skip a raid for it. I would skip a raid for Grey's Anatomy, though, so I am firmly with the no Thursday raiding crowd. Other than Grey's, the only other show that would make me duck raid night would be the Sopranos, and that won't be back until March. Oh, and Lost. Can't miss Lost!
Are there any TV shows that make you skip a raid or two?

Can't miss Lost or Battlestar Galactica. Or Project Runway.
But that's what Tivo is for, really.

Tivo! Yeah, that is what I told them. I tivo all my shows, it is just with a couple, like the Sopranos and Grey's that I want to see right away. My friends email like crazy about the Sopranos on Monday, so I gotta see it on time. Grey's is something me and my wife do together, so no tivo for that one either.

I'll have to second Battlestar and add Lost to the bunch as well.

DING DING! Matt wins the thread here :^) But seriously, Tivo is amazing too.
And HONESTLY...Grey's Anatomy and D. Housewives??? How many raidercore WoW gamers out there are skipping raids for these shows? haha...
Honestly, the only show worth skipping a raid for on television currently is LOST. It's like a never-ending film! :^D

No raiding on Tuesdays, that is Nip/Tuck night. Also can't raid on Saturdays because of college football.

Im suprised no one has said The Daily Show, or Colbert Report, for those long, neverending raids that your guild wants to try and do 3 bosses instead of the average 1.

My friend has a screenshot he enjoys making fun of that he took. Basically, it reads like this -
[Whisper]Nite: Dyyne, its raiding time! MC!
[Whisper back] Dyyne: Cant, Stargate's on. brb in 2 hrs!!
Someshows are just slightly more then WoW in my eyes, and that being Stargate. Hell, my mage is even named "Orii"

as has been said, Tivo is the way to go. If you don't have Tivo, you might as well be walking everywhere instead of using a car.
It's the best way to watch tv. I CANNOT believe there are people out there who are still slaves to the clock.

As a friend said:
"leet gamers watch tv and raid at the sametime"
Then again, its easy for me to say as I have a warlock. Besides, no matter how much you love your tiVo, there is nothing like watching Grey's while its on. Because we all hate it when someone spoils the show for you, besides, its the season premier!

Grey's Anatomy consistently suprises me at just how crappy and recycled television drama has become. I swear to GOD if another member of that tiny hospital staff ends up a patient in their own hospital, I'm taking hostages. And what's up with that horse-faced asian lady? Seriously, she makes me vomit in my mouth a little bit every time she's on a camera. I do not have high standards either. MAN is she ugly!
Desperate housewives is pretty f'n overrated too. Television drama is as paper thin and nothing new. To get caught up in it is to be a "sheeple" with little to no standards of quality in terms of what one considers "entertainment."

Yeah, I stopped being a slave to the TV schedule the day I got a DVR, too. And TV commercials. Best thing since sliced bread. Only had a problem one time and that was when I was playing WoW early this year and what do I see in general chat? 'THE STEELERS WON THE SUPER BOWL'. Damn.

i wouldnt say id miss a raid cos i would just watch them after the raid, but if that was not the case, House, Battlestar Galactica, The unit, Family Guy and scrubs would be the ones i dont miss, and ofc, no need to mention 24.

@14 LOL
I try to watch TV and play at the same time but I hate missing new eps. Sure I'll watch some reruns and play, like I DVR Friends all week and watch them while playing WoW, but when it comes to Grey's or especially Stargate SG1 - I WATCH THEM!!! :-D and I let my g/f play for awhile.
One show I will be NOT playing WoW for is Heros! which begins next Monday. Watch it.
