This is the start of another new feature here at WoW Insider. Every Friday, we'll take a closeup look at another drool-worthy item in Azeroth-- we'll tell you what it is, why you want it, and how to get it. This week, we're starting off at the top, with the sword everyone loves to covet.
Name: Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
Type: Unique Main hand Sword
Damage, Speed: 44-115 +16-30 Nature, 1.9 (53.9 DPS)
Abilities:
- +5 Agility, +8 Stam, +8 Fire Resist, +8 Nature Resist
- "Chance on hit: Blasts your enemy with lightning, dealing 300 Nature damage and then jumping to additional nearby enemies. Each jump reduces that victim's Nature resistance by 25. Affects 5 targets. Your primary target is also consumed by a cyclone, slowing its attack speed by 20% for 12 sec."
- Ability to turn anyone in Ironforge or Orgrimmar green with envy.
Then the fun really starts. Demetrian will summon the Prince Thunderaan, who, it turns out, is a ?? 40-man raid mob. So there's that. Loot the Wind Kissed Blade from Thunderaan-- if you can beat him-- and Demetrian will timidly hand you your new, shiny, sparky, sweet sword.
Auction Price: Yeah right. This sword is BOP, and you better believe it. If you are dumb enough to sell it to a vendor, they'll give you a whopping 25g 53s 55c for it. Don't sell it to a vendor.

The 40-man fight versus Thuneraan isn't as tough as it sounds. Its very cool, but not difficult. The extremely low drop rates on the bindings are the first obstacle. After that, amassing enough gold for 100 arcanite bars and 10 elementium ore is rather difficult...but hey, get that out of the way and you're nearly home free.

forgot to mention A)It's the best tanking weapon in the game
B) It's being changed to one hand in 1.12, meaning it can be offhand or mainhand
C)Only paladins, warriors, rogues, and hunters can do the quest
D) Procrate (somewhere around 20%-30%)
And, it's not "a level ?? mob" it's a boss
Oh, and E) Elementium ore drops in BWL and there's a goblin there which you must MC to learn to smelt it.

It's worth noting that the pendant halves that start the quest to create Thunderfury can only be used by four classes: Warror, paladin, rogue, and hunter. As a mage, this disappoints me; I really wanted an uber huge crackly super sword. WAY more than I want some fruity, beyond-obtaining staff that teleports me to a depressing location that I can reach on my own. Ooooo. Whatever. I'd much rather have Blizzard give us casters some alternatives to Atlesh as far as legendary weapons go.

yeah, thunderran is a pushover.
our mt summoned him before most of our raid arrived, a few non guildies tried to kite him but died quick deaths
we took him out with maybe 20 people?
if your guild can mannage to summon him, you wont need 40 to kill him
