I've played a druid since WoW launched, and I keep coming back to the class because of its versatility. However, there are a couple of things that may confuse newbie druids, so here's a run-down of some of the resources that can help a baby druid grow up safely:
With druids, there are many questions with multiple or open-ended answers, such as the aforementioned "What is my role?" and also "Which professions should I take?". The sites linked above give you a set of different answers, and it's up to you how you interpret the class. I've personally found I'm more in demand as a healer than anything else, so I chose professions and talents that complement that role--however, I've tanked instances more than once, and solo a lot as a caster who can self-heal, so anything is possible.

You can't forget Alamo's essential guide to the druid! This is the "shadow priest" thread for the druid. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-druid&t=597794&p=1&tmp=1#post597794

Nice one Cort. I'm mainly on the EU forums so I hadn't read that piece of genius yet.

My favorite druid resource by far is Kiera's Druid Resources (http://delilah.stormreaverclan.com/). Also, check out druid specific mods such as DruidBar and prowler. Last point to note is that there are a few great posts on the druid forums about the ins and outs of bear tanking worth looking at.

Quick question. Having recently started a Druid, has anyone Specced deep into the Feral or Balance to get the Moonkin form or Leader of the Pack aura? I was wondering, because I really did not want to become another cookie cutter heal bot and thought either of those points might be viable.

Funny you should ask, #4. As you can see from the article's pic I've got Moonkin. I respecced after it was introduced, and it's pretty cool if you want to go for Balance and be a caster more than a healer -- you have to shift out to heal but the form does have its benefits if you're mainly being offensive (e.g. a Wrath/Moonfire/Starfire bot in PvP). Problem is, everyone assumes you're either specced for healing or tanking, but you can still be a viable party tank or healer with moonkin form. Sadly I know little about Leader of the Pack though.
