The coffee chat today was about family and those among our families
that play WoW. Both of my coworkers have large families and they each have
quite a few that enjoy the addiction we call WoW. My first coworker, Peter, has
such a large following that they have their own chat room that is always busy.
His brother, his sister-in-law, two of their three kids, and multiple cousins -
they all play on a daily basis. I used to be in a guild with everyone until it
fractured, but we used to joke we should just change the guild name to Pete's
family.
My other coworker, Jeremy, also has a large family that enjoys the game. His
parents and all his brothers/sisters (and their spouses) play the game. His
family is spread across multiple servers, but they guild together on the
servers they are on. I currently help him run the guild on Bloodhoof.
Are couples and family a common thing in WoW? How many family members do you
have playing?

Everybody in my family plays, though my son is currently grounded from it. Don't ask. Anyway, my wife and I run the Adorable Kittens guild on Azshara (Horde) and Gilneas (Alliance). We also know at least ten different couples online and in RL that play together at least a few times a week. just... one... more... quest...

Ack, I am always a lil jealous of these couple teams - my queen is not extremly computer saavy - nor is she a big fan of computer gaming, nor of my "addiction". So I mostly play when she is not home from work, or in the evenings when she has gone to bed. The system works, barely - it kind of keeps my addiction to WOW down, but I feel like a bad junky when I'm not playing.

Yeah, I have the same problem that #2 has, my wife is not a huge fan of WoW, definately doesn't want to play it, but at least doesn't begrude me my ability to do so. So as long as I am not logging MAJOR hours on WoW the home life is all good, until the weekend, then all bets are off!

My wife actually started playing first. Its been a great thing for us to do together. A friend of mine who introduced us to the game is also married and his wife plays too. We've got a number of couples in our guild. Its probably easier to deal with fighting over loot than getting wife aggro over running MC for 5 hours on a Friday night.
My wife is also pregnant and not working. Playing WoW during the day is one of the things that's helping her not go stir crazy.

While my family does not play WoW, it has been a great way for me to keep up with friends from college. I know that the majority of my college buddies do play with their SO. From this thread, and from hanging out on Feathermoon (Bricu), I guess it is a fairly common happening.

My wife doesn't play WoW, but I would bet that if she did, marriage would be much easier.. I just can't get her to understand my facination with online gaming and why I pay extra money every month to play a stupid game I bought last year.

It took me a few months, but I finally got my wife into playing. Current people I know who play:
Me
Wife
Best Friend 1
Best Friend 1's Fiancee
Best Friend 2
Best Friend 2's Good Friend
Best Friend 2's Good Friend's Fiancee
I don't have much in the way of family that are computer-savvy enough to handle WoW, but my friends are like family, so hey. =)

my brother started playing first. and got me and my sister into it. my mom never tolerated it very much. and in an attempt to get her to understand... we created a monster lol.
she plays more than anyone in our family now. she also has the most characters in our family.
my little sister runs the "auction" character on the "gilneas" server. we send rare items to be auctioned, and she keeps a log book of what money goes to who.
its also fun to see a friend of my brother who i haven't seen in a couple years go way up to #1 or #2 in the honor ranks.

Becky -- we play on the Gilneas server, too. Keep an eye out for the Adorable Kittens guild. That'd be us.
