My vote for the most irritating quest is "Deep Ocean, Vast Sea" in Darkshore. First, I hate fighting in the water...battle in a 3D environment just doesn't work as well in WoW as it does on land (a more 2D environment). Plus it's a quest done in the teen levels where most players are still getting used to their new character and skills. Add to that the fact that the quest rewards suck and you have a quest that begs to be abandoned. Another vote would be the druid Sea Lion form quest. I swam around for ages looking for the second half of the pendant off the coast of Westfall. I finally had to look online for help.
What's your vote for the most frustrating quest in the game?

This same question was posted to the WoW Quest boards once and by far the most irritating quest for people was that Vast Ocean quest.
However, for me, it's always the random drop unique item quests that are irritating. Only because one time you could get that item really quick. Other times you could spend hours, over days and never get it. The most memorable of these is the Humbert's Sword quest in Hillsbrad, in Dun Garok (http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=547). I never have any luck with it, and I'll have to fight elites with help for hours on end before we get that stupid sword.

I hate the string of quests in Duskwood that have you running back and forth across the whole zone to talk to the crazy old hermit by the graveyard and the people in town. Too much walking!

For me defintly the search for the blue pearls in Stranglethorn Valley (don't know the name of the quest, came from the Badlands). Not only are they hard to find, you'll have to fight against those creepy murlocs and dive up every half a minute or so... Finished after 2 hours of swimming and diving.

The quest for Crawler Mucus and Intact Makrura Eyes for lowbie Trolls/Orcs in Durotar. The drop rate is WAY too low for such a lowbie quest.
The bandage quests are annoying as well...some people have a REALLY hard time with those.
From reading the quest to get Quel'serrar, that seems like it'd be the most irritating.

For the longest time Deep Ocean, Vast Sea was my very least favorite quest until I met with the Timbermaws in Felwood. Get the quest run allll the way back south kill 15 then all the way back north turn in and back and forth and back and forth just to be able to run through the cave to Winterspring to meet another furblog and do it again. Day after day killing furblogs for reputation. I'd navigate underwater anyday before doing that again.

Not sure if the Mage quest in the Blue Recluse tavern is still bugged, but it was the least fun I've had on WoW ever.

Any Gnomeregan quest... coz every time I'm able to solo the quest, everything turns gray. *sigh*
Kinda sucks playing on an almost empty realm. *pouty*
For me, Deep Ocean, Vast Sea is relatively easy... water breathing potions, mob-repelling spells or fake target should do the trick.

Deep ocean is annoying if you try to do it properly, but if you just bite the bullet and die twice near the chests, you can get them from the outside of the ships even. Not hard at all. The blue pearl quest was actually one of my favorites as a druid using swim form and I make a killing selling them at the AH before and after I was done the quest too.
I think for me, the most horrid quest was the first time through the druid swim form quest. Nasty hard to find.. EVEN when I knew where to look... Runner up would be the ships quests in STV before they fixed them so the 1000 pirates wouldn't chase you thru the walls.
